If I remember correctly, you don't touch the center console, You take the sides of the console off. The Infinity unit is screwed in. Undo the screws and it should just slide right out. It has been a while since I did it so I might have missed something.

No, you do have to take the center console out but it's no big deal. Take off the face plate around the radio. Take out the 2 screws in the corners. Remove shifter handle. Pop out asytray and cup holder and remove the two brass screws. Slide both seats forward and remove the 2 screws near the lower bottom of the console. You can start to pull out the console but you'll have to disconnect the lighter. 2 of the connectors are prong style and pull off the round one is a light, turn a 1/4 turn to the left and it will come out. ALMOST DONE!!! :D Pull the console up a little more and the last one is where the cup holder assem. is. It holds a little light and it's screwed into the bottom of the console,( it's weird because you really can't see it but don't forget about it cause you'll break it ). After all the screws are out there are little prongs at the front, where the radio is, there a little stuborn but lift up and a little back and it will come off. It's not NEARLY as bad as it sounds and once you know how it'll take you 10 mins either way. I just removed mine for the 1st time 2 days ago and last night did it twice in 20mins.

geez...sounds like a pain in the ass... guess i know what im doing tommorow. only probelm is i run everything off an amp, so i gotta wire-- nevermind, its a stock sytem, its gonna take a while...

I'm doing the same thing. I am going to use the stock wires with a Alpine amp. The way I'm going to do it is cut the wiring harness at the amp and splice the input wires, going into the amp, to the output wire, one going out of the amp to the speakers. This will complete the circuit so to speak. Just look at the wires coming out of the radio, and you will see the same ones going into the wiring harness. The other wires are the ones going to the speakers. I don't know which is which but the colors are the same for each speaker, (meaning right rear pos. could be blue and right rear neg. will be blue w/ red stripe) so it won't be to bad. Once you look at it, it SHOULD click :D but, don't think about it tonight, it's to late.

You DO NOT have to remove the center consule completely....just remove the 2 side panels and the bezel around the radio and HVAC. From there you should have access to all the screws that hold the unit to the car. There should be two screws per side on the stock radio if you have a double din version.

I would however be much easier and give you much more room to work with if you do remove the center consule. Its really up to you how much unscrewing you want to do. I just had the whole interior gutted except for the drivers seat and had it back together in like 15 minutes.

one more thing, to avoid fustration use the screw on the right hand side above your shifter assembly for a ground. Also , your install will be an ISO fit so you will need a bezel or pocket below the DIN unit unless your a doing a 2x DIN. The pocket is made by Metra and can be purchased at Circuit City (unles you have gauges there) it takes some patience but works fine.
Good Luck.

well, i took the system out of my old car, and i have everything running off the amp, so i cut the speaker wire from my reciver since i only used the RCAs... and last night i just one of the speaker sin the back.. its gonna be a long day. how bad does a '95 rattle?
