i need all your opinions..im buying a carbon fiber hood this week and im not sure what to do...some people say VIS is the best..some say vis is crap...if your in the ohio area and can hook me up let me know because im in cleveland..or if your around the area like in PA...but plz post...should i go with oem style or invader?? any ideas

VIS makes awesome hoods. I don't know why people would argue with that. Most are rolled edges and have great latches on them along with everything drilled. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Could agree more! Nicely put!

I own the Invader hood very nice, but the upper cam cover doesn't fit under it. Also after some measuring my engine transplant won't fit under that hood either. Car runs a little cooler with it too. That's a bonus.
Frame work is solid and I have tested to 135mph many times with no hood pins.

someone please tell me the benefit of hood pins besides the look...because i often reach a 120+ mph

Thanks!

ohio98eclipse - The reason for hood pins is to keep the hood from flying up. Carbon fiber hoods are LIGHT! Most do not get them for looks, but for performance. Less weight = faster vehicle. Because they are so light, if the latch comes up, then the hood will just fly right up and crack your windshield and possibly sending you into a ditch. I recommend them with :thumb: :thumb: up.

hood pins are only if the hood doesn'tcome with an oem latch.... im prolly getting the invader hood. If you are going to put in hood pins buy some wood sealer and just dab a few layers of that around the holes you drill to prevent the cf from shredding

I have VIS and it is pretty good, except it's mostly fiberglass, not carbon fiber. You get what you pay for.

VIS is junk compared to DGM. But hey, if you don't want to spend the extra money, go with the VIS.

VIS is a good quality hood. We have found a compariable hood in quality and look, in the RD hoods, which we carry for $310. These are grade A goods, and fully reenforced.

And yeah, with any aftermarket hood, I recommend hood pins.

get hood pins no matter what. its worht that $30 you spend. i have had a predator hood fly up onto my winshield going only 40mph at the time. it doesnt how strong the latch looks, usually the latch on the hood is secured with fiberglass to the hood. After time it becomes corroded, cracks from moisture and the cold or heat. PLEASE do yourself a favor and get pins. even if you think your safe without them, i guarantee you will have problems eventually

We always recommend getting hood pins, as previously stated, the 30 dollars isnt going to waste. A customer of ours was traveling to the east coast with no hood pins when the hood flew up, smashed his a pillar and windshield, and the hood ripped off the mounting points, struck a SUV behind him. He's now got a totalled 2g, and a pending lawsuit.. Ugly to say the least.. Moral of the story? buy hood pins.

get in touch with Tom Sawyer on here, he sells c-west cf hooks for a good price.
