not sure if this is in the right forum but oh well here goes...right now i am driving a 1995 probe base and the tranny is gettin ready to go out on it. i talked to a guy at a car lot and i talked him into trading me straight up for a 1991 2.0 laser with 110,000 miles on it..and the laser has a custom cat back ractive exhaust. the laser was once wrecked but has been fixed. there was not a lot of major damage but just some to the front end. should i trade or not?? i plan on using this car for a daily driver because i plan on buying a 2g tsi awd or a gst or gsx in like a year or so...so should i trade the cars or not????
] you said the trannys gonna drop from the probe, i would say go for it. but before you do make sure to check on some important vitals of the car. make sure its not grinding between shifts/going into gear - if manual. check the engine for oil leaks and check to see if he has a record of the mantaince. a great way to see how the cars been running is .... well drive it of course. but if you check the plugs. "a normally worn spark plug should have light tan or gray deposits on the firing tip. a carbon fouled plug may indicate an improperly tuned vehicle. a physically damaged spark plug may be evidence of severe detonation in that cylinder. an oil fouled spark plug indicates an engine with worn piston rings and/or bad valve seals allowing excessive oil to enter the chamber." soo... thats another thing that will help determine the health of the engine. check all the fluids. this may sound wierd but... if you have a pocketlogger already you could hook it up and check on some vitals that way as well. [if you have a pda, you can download the software for free, i know its on this site someplace but i forgot where i saw it] hmmm... oh remember to check the cv boots and some other good stuff like that. but other than that i cant think of anything more. if anybody has anything to add, more power to you
