Maybe I'm crazy, but I want to try this...

I have seen "Cloth Color" paint for fabrics in several stores, and it is made by the same company that makes "Vinyl Color" (which is what I used for my interior, and it works great).

I am sick of having ricey-looking seat covers, but too cheap to go out and buy $200-500 apiece racing seats. So here's what I've decided to do...

I want to remove the seats, paint the center area blue (so there's a stripe down the middle) and paint the area around it black. I will do something similar with the back seats so that everything matches.

I think it will go nice with my black / blue interior. What do you think? Is it worth a good-ol try?

i have seen custom leather seats. u just remove the fabric on the seats, and you can buy a whole leather piece fitted for your car. i believe i saw the name of the place on ebay. search eclipse leather seats maybe. see what comes up. you can give them what ever colors and ideas u like.

Sounds good to me. I may just try the "Cloth Color" on something to test it first, like an old blanket, or maybe the backside of a sun visor to see if it stiffens the material any. It seems that it would be made specifically to keep the fabric nice and soft and loose, but you just never know...

EDIT:

I think I'm gonna try it. I have a Haynes manual, but the description of removing the front seats isn't the best... Anyone have a simple description? I dont want to take the brackets off unless I have to...

if you don't want to spend a lot, u can get racing seats from air dynamics for like 120-130 a piece. They have really nice looking seats and the price is very nice. I haven't heard anything about em, good or bad, but they do look nice and are a great price. I'll prolly be getting some soon.

but there are no brackets for air dynamics...just sliders..i called them

and if you look in my gallery...its only like 700 bucks to get your entire interior seats done.....and if you want something simple its less

I dyed my back seats. I didn't plan on using them ever so I didn't care. They did become stiff. Get on eBay and find a set of cheap seats. R1 makes good seats (thats what I have), also NEX seats are cheap and their pretty comfortable.

I'm not rich.

I really don't even have the money to buy cheap racing seats (although 120-130 is a really good price). Right now I am saving money up for a lot of things that would come before racing seats, such as a new set of rims, new exhaust, and new system.

Any other ideas?

I wouldn' t do it if I were you. But i'm not you so you can do whatever you want..

A buddy of mine dyed his seats and yes it became stiff.. Not just that, but when you wear light color clothing, once in a while..your clothes will rub the color off and you'll have color stains on your clothes..

IMO... Just go out and buy some 'racer looking seat covers' if you can afford real seats.
