Moonroof to sunroof conversion ?

You mean go from a 1G liftlid to a 2G rooftractor? Ooo. I'm sure it's been thought of, but I've not run across it being done. surely it'd be possible, but I don't have a clue about if it'd be easy.

ya the 1g's just lift, and hey thats awesome, i even got this little lip so i can take mine off, and put a littl lip on it, but means stopping the car, and weather here sucks, i mean it will be sunny one min, snowing 20 min later, sunny, and then raining so that part of it sucks. Sunroofs look mad nice. Be cool to see one on a 1g.

...and by sunroof, i mean one that pops up, and slide back.

I've heard this referred to as a spoiler sunroof. I just got off the phone with a local installer, unfortunately they don't do these, only the manual ones. I've been trying to find a place that does power sunroofs.

The 2G sunroofs show up for sale in Classifieds and on eBay, usually around $200. It shouldn't be a big deal for a body shop to install, but it might involve some re-skinning somewhere in the process, maybe even a bit of sectioning. I suppose I could walk out on the porch and see if the 1G and 2G roofs look similar, but it's my day off and I'm larding my ass.
Oh, all right, hang on a second. Jeeze.

Hrmph, interesting. The 2G is just a bit longer, they're both real close in width. I don't know about headroom issues, that'd be your consideration. A look-over makes it look like it'd work, and maybe a lot more easily than I'd have suspected.
I'm not sure I understood one part, though, about the rain.... what, you slow down in the rain? Just keep the knots up, you'll stay dry.

 make me go out to my car to show you what i mean.

blah

sooooo a sun roof.. like a 2g...
would be the best of both worlds.. cause it could open up alot like the second pic, and close like the first.
and with the second picture. is what i was talking about the rain getting in, but ya...

do all 1g's come with both tops for the moonroof?

Mine came with the deflector, and the sun shade that goes inside. I've never used the deflector, I haven't ever pulled the glass off (I had on my Datsun turbo, kind of a hassle and the wind just wasnt happy, nothing like the 2000 roadster).
When I got the 2G, it took me about a week to see it needed a deflector as well, lots of wind noise without it. I got the Benevento, it clips on ahead of the opening and doesn't interfere with the roof sliding.

hey defiant, I got an aftermarket roof that tilts up and slides backward, got one annoying problem though, the thing creaks when I go over ramps, any idea how to reinforce this? planning to get a strut bar, will this help?

Bars _might_ make it a bit worse. Your best bet is to get some silcone spray and lube the spots where it's creaking.

from the sound of it, its like the frame is creaking, I tried oiling the rails, that worked for a while, its not actually a creaking kinda like a loud knock.

1gens only pop up its a moonroof they dont slides back and some 2 gens have a pop up moon roof or the sunroof that slides back depends on what the owner wanted when they bought it$$$ and on other cars like sjutrettioett showed in that picture is a moonroof/sunroof it does both :D
