From what I can piece together, they all (maybe not the RS?) had the "six" speaker system, with the door speakers making two, and counting the 6X9 and its cone as "four" more. The 8-speaker system is the same, but with the amp under the passenger seat also driving the tweeters in the dash. Supposedly on the Eclipse, it also comes with the data cable for the CD changer in the trunk, and the power wiring, but this was an option on the Talon. I gotta get a page up of the radios, the question deserves a VFAQ.
It's not a killer system by today's measure, but it does sound good.... or, as good as a system can sound in a car, trying to overcome the damned sirens behind you.
To hook up the amp, you'll need an amp (uh, duh) and the DIN cable that runs between it and the head, and the Infinity head that has the DIN output on it- it's the double-DIN radio with the CD player built-in. The two-piece radio/cassette (that won't let you change tapes in 5th gear) and CD player doesn't have an output for the factory amp. The plug should be under your passenger seat, tucked under the carpet.
I went through upgrading a 95 TSi AWD to the factory Infinity with the amp and CD changer, so I've figured out a lot of the mystery.

damn i have a gs but i dont think it came with the infinity sound system i have a pair of 6 1/2 in the rear and 5 1/4 in the front door. im not sure if i have tweeters in the dash i'll go check.

Ah, that one will let you pull that CD player and hook up the 10 CD changer instead, and you can move the tape player into the upper slot and put a cubbyhole in the lower area- which means you could then change tapes while driving, AND see what damned time it is (you could also swap them top-to-bottom now, but lose the ability to swap out CDs past the stinking gearshift in fifth). This deck doesn't have an output for the equalizer, however (minor loss, really).
The cubbyhole that replaces the dash CD player is a perfect fit for a Walther PP-K and a couple of extra clips, saving the bother of having to get it out of the armrest console.

Defiant just the guy I want as a question. What the hell is the blue wire for the 10 disc cd changer. I've got everything to install the damn thing but I can't figure out what to do with the blue wire part of the power cable to the changer. I figure blac and white power and ground. Enlighten me please.
George

As best I can figure out, the blue one is a constant-power supply so you can swap out magazines when the car's turned off. The factory manual seems to kind of skip over the CD changer, and doesn't give any clue about what's what in the DIN cable. Somewhere in the Talon Digest, years ago, someone had traced out the DIN cable wiring to find which wires had to be swapped so you could use the Mits factory (Pioneer-made) CD changer with a Pioneer head unit. Clever boys had swapped out a pin or two to make it proprietary. Bastards. Unfortunately, the link to the diagram they'd made has long ago died.

I'm trying to install a 10 disc cd changer into my 1997 Talon, which wasn't plrewired. I got the DIn cable and a pigtail to connect power to the changer. The pigtail has the blue wire plus power and ground. I just couldn't figure out what to do with the blue wire. I'm guessing if conect power and ground to the cd changer it should be good without the blue wire. Haven't tried it yet.

Only prob is that you'll only be able to eject the magazine with the key on- the factory setup doesn't have a remote, the blue comes off the power door lock circuit, it's an always-hot line to run the ejection mech.
