ignition locked up! please help

ive searched and there is one thread about this but it doesn't really give me the answer i want or any answer at that...

sometimes you have to play with the key in my car to get it to turn over.... rarely but sometimes you just have to wiggle it...well i drove it all day today running some errands and i went to a buddy's, came back to my car, tried to start it and the key won't go over....like its locked... so i cant even roll my windows up, listen to radio, ect... could this be my ignition lock mechanism gone bad?... is there a sensor that tells it to lock and unlock?.... i tried wiggling the wheel of course (for about an hour) if anybody knows what part i need to replace please let me know, thanks

also the key is slightly bent... but it has been since i bought the car 2 months ago

my lock went bad this same way ... i took a hammer and screw driver and remove it the igniton requires a special tool to take it out i just popped it out and purchased a racing panel came with switch and new key from autozone

Uh.... the "special tool" is a pin punch, Phillips screwdriver, or nail. You remove the plastic shroud, turn the key to ACC, press up on the button that lives in the little hole on the bottom of the ignition lock housing, and pull the lock cylinder out.

Then either replace the lock with a new assembly, or have a locksmith rebuild the old lock and cut fresh keys that aren't pieces of worn-out, bent shit.
