help sticking a dashmat

yeah this is sortof a newbie question but.....

i got a black dashmat to temporarily fix my ugly grey dash problem, but i cant get anything to stick to the dashboard so it will stay in one place. any suggestions from you guys?
i have tried sticky backed velcro and a few other tapes but nothing works. im going to clean my dash AGAIN tomorrow with a brillo pad so i need some more adhesives to try. thanks.

Try cleaning it with a denatured alchoal. That should do the trick
