Flame Throwers

hey if you ever watch the show trucks on tnn or whatever they showed a kit that you can hook up on any car that is pretty neat for it. i guess you could search on there web site for it.:dsm:

I know how they work.. i had one on my old impala... but i wanted to know if it would work with our cars. we dont produce that many emissions.

and for redeclipse97 the flamethrower is a spark plug in your exhaust that when a button is pushed it ignites the spark plug and burns emissions.

no hes talking about one mounted to the side of his car for when old people get in his way and make him downshift..LOL..j/k

My car spits flames out the back when it wants to without any gizmos...

LoL. As much fun as that would be, give me a good old machine gun or rocket launcher anyday. :D Too afraid the flame is gonna come right back at me and cook the paint while in motion, LoL.

They will only work with no cat. It's pretty risky doing it though. There's a number of kits available online if you do a search..I would ask whoever makes one (or sells it) a few questions first.

Like what kind of questions. .. the one i saw the website says it will not work if you have a cat ... and you will have a better chance ona four cylinder if you have a turbo. ..

www.autoloc.com makes a kit and they told me it would work fine on my car. They say the cars featured in Fast and the Furious were using the same kits but spraying nitrous in the mix as well for a fuller flame. I think that would look bas ass with the flames but does it pose any risks of following back up the exhaust and moving towards the engine?? Other then that it'd be tight, don't ever see any street cars with that, at least now around here

it wont blow back up the whole exhaust unless you have a serious backflow problem. remember exhaust goes out the pipe. it shouldnt be sucking any back in. plus you have to rev the engine up to about 3500 to get enough emissions to burn. it helps alot to not have a cat.

LOL... it wont melt the bumper... unless your exhaust pipe opening is inside the bumper. if you do that you have to have a little bit extended out .. and besides the flames usually shoot straight out.. not up.. because like i said you have to rev the engine to get them to fire.

Yeah, but now that you have flames belching out of your muffler it's going to get as hot as your cat (if you have one :p ) and with no heat shield and the tip of your muffler that close to your bumper I'd say there is an excellent chance of it melting your bumper (if you use the igniter enough).

Yeah but who shoots the flames that much... i never did it on the street in my impala... only at shows.. and if you did flame it all the time you would have to change the spark plugs like every 3 days. if that.

I saw a autoloc flamethrower on a RS with a DTM and it threw a flame about 10 feet in the air. It was sweet! :thumb:

From what I understand...the flame can only go back up inside your system if you have a leak in your exhaust somewhere.

If you have a nice exhaust, wouldn't that burn any baffle that is in the muffler? I'm sure that a stock muffler would be too restrictive, could be wrong though.

The DTM's are angled down. What did they do, put it on upside down? Not only could you shoot flame 10 foot in the air, but you would have a built in rain gauge!
