alright, i was looking around for some info on this since i am going to do it in a couple months (waiting for the weather to get better), and i saw pictures showing off the problem. and from the pictures, im assuming the front bumper will not fit at all with the 96 headlights. my question is, is it hard to mod the front bumper so that it will fit with the 96 headlights? or is it easier just to purchase 97-99 headlights? thanks in advance to anybody with tips or info.

I would recomend buying new head lights, unless you or somebody you know can work with fiberglass. In order for the 95-96 lights to work in a 97-99 bumper, you would have to cut the bumper to allow the lights to fir properly. I guess you could leave it at that, but IMHO, it would look unfinished up close. You wouldn't have any material running around the headlamps on the inside corners. That's why it would require some fiberglass work to be done.

alright thanks. so now, im assuming that the 97+ headlights will fit directly onto the 96, bolting up no problems right?

my roomie just did this conversion, you might have looked at my pics detailing the bumper fit problems. he purchased a set of aftermarket projector headlights for 97-99 on ebay ($218.00 shipped.) these headlights fit fine although a small amount of dremmel work was required on the mounting brackets on the headlights themselves. no biggie, the holes didnt match the frame mounts but were only about 1/4 of an inch off. so he carved out a little bit of the plastic so they lined. holds fine and looks real nice.

martnson, thanks for the info. yeh i think it was your thread that i looked at. well..my friend has a set of 98 cleared out headlights he wants to sell me for about $100. i havent seen em yet, but he said there's a scratch on it about 1.5" vertical on the corner part of the lense. what do you think of the price? let me know either pm or here, both work. thanks again.
