aight, last night me n some of my friends installed my amp....we got the wiring all done and everything, was running GREAT for a while, then on my way home, the damn speakers cut out. all i could hear was the bass from the sub...and whenever it hit (like RIGHT as it hit) my cde player skipped. im pissed anyone have any ideas on what the hell is wrong with it??im goin bonkers...i need my beats!!

oh yah, its a jensen jx 12" sub (or sometihn like that), a kicker 200.2 amp, and a RF 8 guage amp install kit for the wiring.

How did you have the sub wired to the amp?

just regular speaker wire
or do you mean what were the wires hoked upto on the amp? i think it was L+, R- so it could be bridged

Well, there's a number of things it could be...so I'd just go down a checklist until something works.


Check to see if your amp powers up. If it doesn't...your amp is either fried or you have a loose connection somewhere, or you have blown the fuse.

So your amp powers up...
It could be your sub is blown, this is likely (not to be a dick, but Jensen sucks) or your RCA wires are loose.

I'm positive it's one of those things.

As far as your cd player skipping...this can be common among certain lower-end cd players (and good ones sometimes). What kind of cd player do you have? Other than that, it could be another loose connection, or the cd player isn't mounted securely (maybe in the rear).

I'd pull the fuse & go over every splice(you did use insulated crimp lugs of course - they are dirt cheap) & every ground connection.

well..looks like my friend who put my cd player left one of the wires revealed and i fried one of the channels in my head unit.. F LI C K!!!!! that sucks. anyways, anyone know how much it costs to get a channel rebuilt from like bestbuy? or anyone have an extra head unit layin around that works and has RCA pre-outs?

Oh I see now, I thought you meant your sub/amp setup was fugged. Didn't realize it was your actual speakers.

If you bought the deck recently, just take it back. Otherwise check out eBay for a new one and remind your friend he owes you.

yo, i got an alpine layin around here. took it out of a buddies mustanh to step up to a bigger unit. its a 40.4 but it hits harder than a mother. let me know if your interested. ill take an offer. peace
