Ok im sure most of you know that a 97 eclipse is supposed to have 6x9 speakers. wherever you look it up you will find that they are supposed to have 6x9's. They do not. I purchased a couple of speakers only to find out that there is a 5 inch speaker where there should be a 6x9. I did some research a lot of people have this problem. did any body cut the bracket or do they make 6x9 brackets?

Thanks Rhino

Mine has 6x9s. But I have the Infiniti with 10cd changer option. I guess it depends which option you have.

The GS-T and GS-X came with the Premium Infinity package (Radio/CD/Cassette w/8 speakers) which included 6 x 9 speakers in the rear. I replaced those several years ago along with the door speakers which I believe to be 5 1/2 or 6 rounds.

Don't know what the RS and GS came with, but it sounds like it's different. However, if so, all you would need is the rear setup from a turbo model.

10 disc CD changer is an option.

If you have the Infinity Premium sound, you have 6x9s in the rear. If not theres a good chance you don't. As mentioned GST/GSX comes with the infinity premium sound standard so to us turbo guys, not seeing 6x9s in there is a shocker. For Talon owners, turbo or not, because the turbo ones did not mean standard infinity premium sound, they don't necessarily have the 6x9s. I saw this with my own eyes as I've installed several audio setups on 2g DSMs. It's actually nice for those who prefer the 6.5s. The talon I installed speakers in that did not have the infinity premium sound, had 6.5s in there. It was still the 6x9 mount but with a nice OEM adapter for 6.5s.

I find the circular speakers to sound better myself. If you have the mounts for 6.5s circles in there, I'd use them and not go through the truoble finding 6x9s unless you are really set on them for some reason. If you are planning to have a subwoofer in the car, then why even make a big deal if those rear speakers only serve as rear fill.

thanks alot guys. yes i do already have subs and an amp hooked up i also already purchased the 6x9's so basically i guess i should go to a junkyard and find a gst or gsx and take the brackets. thanks again for the quick response

I would rather have 6.5 component speakers over 6x9s any day. PHOENIX GOLD RSD-65CS 6.5" COMPONENT SPEAKERS would be a good choice.

Well even with the infinity sound system you have to make sure the 6X9s you get will fit, because my speakers were too deep and didn't fit. So if you do cut make sure you get speakers that aren't to big or with big magnets!
