Remove A/C How-To ?

Does anybody know of a How-To on removing a 1g A/C system? I swear I found one on here before, and I tried finding it again today but nothing came up. I did 5 or so searches on here and got 0 results. If you know of one can you please tell me where/ how I can find it.

I'd rather have one specifically for a 1g, thanks though. I'll just give it a try with my Haynes manual and see how that turns out I guess. Maybe that's my best bet anyways.

To remove the compressor I cut the belt and took out four bolts that held the compressor and its holding bracket in place, two on top two on bottom.

Evacuate fluid through low pressure valve (use a shop to be environmentally friendly), disconnect lines, remove condensor, remove belt, remove pump and bracket. Taking stuff off should be easy :)

Remember the bottom of the ac compressor bracket serves as a spacer for the driver side axle carrier bracket do-dad. You can either leave the bracket on, cut it down some or take it off and use washers for spacers.

The car isn't mobile right now so I can't exactly have a shop drain the system, so I was thinking about letting the A/C system drain through a bucket of water with some carbon in it. I heard that this will help take the toxins out of the coolant, not sure if it's true though. Can anybody confirm this?

And I have heard about the bracket being a spacer for AWD cars, so I've decided to cut the bracket down and keep the part of it that's used a spacer on the car.

Thanks for the info.!

Nevermind the question about draining the A/C into a bucket of water, turned out the A/C system was already empty.

What I found to be helpful was to cut the bracket leaving the spacer portion and the bolt above it as well. That way when you need to unbolt the axle the bracket stays in place.
