Regina,
whatsup guys. yesterday i finally did up my sub box. i used to have two JL Audio 8" subs that would hammer for eights, but i forgot all about my 15" i had under my bed. so yeah yesterday i went out and bought some MDF (medium density fiberboard) and went to town. i think it looks really nice and clean. i wrapped it in some nice carpetting and made it look MINTY.

i tried putting the whole fiberboard in my trunk in one piece but that didnt work, so i cut about 1/4 of the way up from the bottom of the board, and it fits in flat to my trunk, then the other piece (that the sub sits on) just rests on my back strut compartment. it doesnt touch my seat at all, i can folt down my seats and you can see the whole setup. if you guys want i can do a how-to writeup cause i havent really seen any 1ga ppl do this

there, i was finally able to get some more pics taken from different angles so you can see what was done.

EDIT: incase your wondering about my setup, its a 15" 800 watt (not RMS) American Legacy sub. not the best, but it pounds. it pounds cause of my 5-channel D-Series 1200watt RMS PPI Amp. if ## wondering if my amp is too close to my sub its not, its just cause of the angle i took the pic from. really theres 3+ inches of room between the too which is more than enough. the magnet doesnt magnatize to the amp at all or the flooring or anything. as you can see it doesnt rest on my seats like i said, which is sweet. theres no rattling of the fibrebaord because of the carpet.

i went to ALL places in Regina and they said it would cost 100-150$ for a box. in total this project costed me 30$. it was 25$ for the 48" x 48" fibreboard and 5$ for my jigsaw blades. ## ###### gonna use 2 blades for this project, after a while ## jigsaw will vibrate rank because the blade is worn. anyways tell ## buddy good luck, and MAKE SURE he cuts everything a bit bigger than what he really wants. its better to have to shave some off then to cut too much. i learned that lesson on the passenger side :( w/e i guess i have a port now :p

Not bad, I like the angle.

some tips for next time

1: Use a double layer of mdf or particle board. You can recess your speaker and make it look that much better as well as preventing your layout from sagging over the next 6 months.

2: Enclose that area. Unless your using a pair of 6x9, or an open air speaker, it not going to do much for sound except create speaker chatter.

3: Your layout needs to be secured. You need to attach it to your car somehow. Just floating like that is going to create more rattles than a speaker.

4: Digital amp or not, they need to breathe. Move it to the side. The warm air from the speaker itself will cause havoc as its pushed down on the amp.

I like that, very clean, except for your mistake on the passenger side. May be abelt to creat some sor to generic box, to add on the bottom side so the sub is enclosed. Got any pics from the outside looking in.A pic that shows the whole thing.

Does the hatch cover stil function normally?
