is there any easy way to remove small dents?

yesterday I was in the carwash and slipped and put a dent in my hood w/ my elbow... it's really pissing me off because it's not very big, but you can see it from a block away:cry:

Try looking up "Paintless Dent Removal". There are shops that do it, and basically what it does is suck the dent out. That's actually what the process is called, and if you call local bodyshops, they'll be able to tell you if they have been trained to do it.

As far as a do-it-yourself process, there are a couple of home kits as well, but they're supposedly a lot more iffy as far as getting the results. The one I know of is called the Ding King, but I've not bought it. I've got a few dents in my Talon that I've been meaning to take out, but I'm not gonna worry about it till springtime.

http://www.dingkingtool.com/

is the address for the Ding King.

I wish I had the $$$ for a cf hood but I just got done with about 4000 in repairs...

today someone told me putting dry ice on it sucks them out, anyone else heard of this?

how big is the dent? you can just go to autozone and get a suction cup like the type they use to PIC up glass. it should be by the bondo and stuff like that. try to pull it out. i did this to a friends car that got hit by a deer. the deer dented the hood and i fixed it, boy was he happy!

In order to get the dry ice to pop the dent, the metal needs to be sitting in the sun for a long while. The metal needs to be hot, and when you put the dry ice on it, the metal will flex from the extreme temp. I guess you could try to heat the dent area with a blow dryer then use the dry ice.

i help out at a body shop, and usually any type of damage to the hood (hail, dings etc.) result in a new hood. Because the surface is streched metal, and doesnt have any real structural supports holding the surface metal, when you pull out a dent, it usually pulls another section you dont want pulled. Sorry but if you want it fixed your gonna need a new hood

yes the hood has structural support preventing some deformation, but not all

but you'll never really know until you ask the body shop

oh by the way, it's just a little dent, nothing big, maybe like 1.5 in. by 1.5 in... and I was gunna just bump it with a soft mallet to pop it out, but it's above one of the few braces on my hood

bondo???

what the hell! I'm never going to put bondo on any car I own except for this volvo rally car I bought for 50 bucks, and the bondo holds on the hood scoop!

anyways, I couldn't find a suction dealy for less than 49.99 so I'm gunna try some dry ice in a little bit...

Well after you try the dry ice let me know if it works. I have two small dents on my fender that I need fixed.

cold ice is so damn cold that they wont sell it to you if youre not 18 and they quiz you on what youre doing with it (i used to put dryice and water in 20oz bottles, and it makes an explosion bigger than an m80).

anyways, masking tape the ice to the outside of the hood. be sure to wear gloves, becuase if you touch this with bare skin, you will literally burn yourself cuz this stuff is so damn cold. open the hood and put a heatgun/hair dryer on the underside of the hood and hold it there forever.

should work man.

sidenote: dont try to make those bomb things. they are seriously scary dangerous.

Don't use the Ding King! I have had several people tell me now that it sucks. I would definatly try the dry ice thing and if that doesn't work go to a body shop :)

Yeah, definatly dont make those water and dry ice bombs. I got arrested back when I was younger for that.

Holy Resurection Batman!

I ended up just not worrying about it because I had my car in the shop and the mechanic put a big dent in it... guess who got a new hood!
