Front Bumper Brace

Trying to reattach the front bumper from the previous owner and noticed that there is probably some type of bumper brace missing to attach the bumper onto.

Is it just one brace across the midsection that is missing?

Yeah you're missing the metal crash bumper. It s just one solid metal piece that runs across the midsection. To reattach your bumper you'll have to get that piece back or make some sort of brackets to hold the middle section of the bumper up as they will droop. I'd recommend getting the crash bumper back on unless this is a track only car.

Thats what I thought was missing but wanted to make sure. It won't be track only so would prefer to just get the stock brace bar back.

I was looking on ebay and was also wondering do we have to have the bumper support shocks as well?

The shocks are part of what absorbs impact so if you're reinstalled for safety I would say they're necessary. I would think your best bet in finding one would be a junk yard. But I believe one of the site sponsors sells a lightweight aluminum version that should still provide some crash protection.

Oh ok, I found the brace on ebay for like $35 or so. The absorbers though cost more than the brace and they are used so wasn't sure.

I will check into that lightweight version as well.

i Suggest calling around to local junkyards and picking up a crash bumper from there.. easier, no shipping woes, if its the wrong part you don't have to wait forever.. etc. Probably could be cheaper as well.

Yeah, we have called most junkyard here for some other parts and here where we live our junkyards really suck. Most don't have any type of sports cars but if you need a bumper for a lincoln town car they got you covered .

Also noticed that you don't have the hardware to attach the bumper to the chassis. Oh my 92, I have studs on the chassis side, but it seems like yours uses bolts. Make sure you get the correct length and pitch bolts in a high grade. If you get lower grade hardware they'll snap easier and could potentially be disastrous in a accident.

Might wanna call up Gary at Mitsubishi Graveyard over here in NY, I'm SURE he has that whole assembly with the hardware for a good price.

Maybe the previous owner had a FMIC in there at one point?

I run a full size fmic under my crash bumper. Just trimmed it to fit Michigan roads during the winter... are the reason i still use it.

The previous owner might have. I removed some home made brackets that were just hanging there.

Also are there some supports need as well for the front end? I know about the crash bumper but read there are some supports also.

Just throw the crash bumper on, after that.. bolt the bumper cover on, might want to get fender wells and some of the trim if you're going back to stock
