Building a new system

I have a 98 eclipse gst with the stock infinity system and i wanted to upgrade the whole system, not just get subs and an amp. I'm looking to spend around 1,500 - 2,000 to get headunit, 2 - 12's, and replace all stock speakers. Any suggestions on a speaker set up that would go together nice? Also what do you think about an eq mounted under the new headunit is it worth it? And what sizes are all the stock speakers? (dash, back, doors, etc.)

I know i don't have an eclipse but i just got rockford components, rockford full range speakers..two rockford 12's in a q logic box and a rockford 1000watt punch amp and an Alpine CDA 7894..i love the combo..sounds great..if you do buy anything talk to me on AIM -- PlatinumImpact because i have a friend that can get u stuff for cheap

Well, with $2k you have more than enough money for an awesome system. There's so many options it's really impossible to aska question so broad. If I were you, I'd hop onto the forums at www.Sounddomain.com and learn as much as possible. You'll be able to fiugre out what stuff will work best for your needs, and not spend too much while doing it.


Just to give you an idea though, my current system costed under $1k and I'm more than happy with it. So with your budget, I would expect a truly amazing setup. Here's what I have:

my friend has a nice 2g eclipse with his ps2 hooked up to a tv on his dash in his car. its a 6.5 inch widescreen, we play tokyo xtreme racer while he's cruzin round columbus. almost got into an accident once though...I know this has nothing really to do with the thread, i just thought i would tell you. i need to get him to join this site. his car is bad.
