I am looking to redo my interior black, is there any specific paint to use?

I know I need a primer, reg paint, and a sealer. But is there anything thats real good?

Also what do I need to do to prep my interior (dash board, center console, door panels, etc...) for it to be painted?

Are there any guides anywhere hehe

My way might be different because I have a 1g, but for the "soft" material (for the 1g it was the doors and parts of the dash) I used vinyl spray paint. I just cleaned them really good with soap and water and I let the parts dry completely. When I painted my dash, I took it off rather than masking stuff inside the car. the hard plastic parts I just cleaned and used plastic spray paint. I didn't primer them, and they've been holding up well. For the vinyl sprayed interior pieces, when I clean it with Armor-All, it shines pretty well. My interior hasn't faded or chipped off yet. It's been well over a year since I've done it.

I forgot to mention, if you are doing the whole interior including the rear panels (even the trunk area), you might have problems in the back with the paint scratching off. At least I did, since my car is my daily driver and I carry stuff in the back (laundry basket, groceries, etc). After going through the threads here, a fellow tuner (Slipstream) gave me advice on using truck bed liner spray on the trunk panels (since it is durable). I used it and love it. The rear panels are black and can withstand the bumps it recieves from stuff I carry in the back. I'll mention that if you do use the truck bed liner spray, the finish is not as shiny as the plastic or vinyl spray paint. Good luck on your interior.

hehe thanks for advice, so vinyl spray for the soft parts, and plastic spray for the hard parts... no sealer used?

Remember to scrub the shit out of your parts before you paint them. ANY armorall on them will fish eye your stuff and create alot of headaches for you. Take some duct tape and try to tape the dash, if the tape sticks good, then you cleaned it enough. If it curls up, you got some more scrubbing to do. Nail polish remover works well.

Nice thanks for that tip, I am going to start working on this next weekend, nice and slowly so I dont mess anything up.

I sprayed everything down with brake parts cleaner and wiped it clean with a lint-free rag. I didn't want to sand away the texture of the dash and I wanted it to keep the OEM look.

I used Dupli-color vinyl/carpet dye with no primer or clear-coat. Matches the OEM look perfectly and its held up just fine in my car.

Check my gallery for pics.

i used vinyl/carpet dye it turned out great. i wanted blue but it was a little bright for me so i put a base coat of black and then the blue it darkened it up a bit.
