Hey guys. I have a 97 spyder and i want a little bass to help the speakers i recently put in. I would like to keep my trunk, so i was thinking about putting the sub under the space where the convertible top folds down. i was wondering if anyone has done this and how it sounds with the top up and down?

unless you are going to drive with your top up all the time you cant put anything in the well... Just get a box with quick disconnects for your trunk and take it out when you need the room.

My Spyder has one of those bazooka tubes in the trunk, easily removed if needed, try one of those if you like the style. Also, that Dynomat stuff that removed vibrations is a good idea, my trunk lid rattles alot when the base is up, kinda annoying :|

Also you can spray expanding foam in the bracing along the trunk lid. That will make it much more rigid and less prone to wobble. Try moving your trunk locking mechanism down some so that way the hood has to shut further in order to lock in place, this will take out some of the play there is. Also check your license plate and make sure that it isnt rattling either because they rattle sometimes. You can just put a piece of rubber or rubber grommets behind the screws in each corner to stop the license plate from rattling. That should take care of everything if you dont have the money to buy dynomat (also that is for sound acoustics and dampening, not so much rattling i doubt dynomat will solve your problem.)

dont' know if anyone still comes across this thread.. but so you know.. i did get one to fit in the sub and it sounds good. i used a 1 farad cap, a 300w jvc amp, and a 10" infinity perfect sub. i made it custom out of mdf and basically had to bend some of the lower portion of lower metal bracing behind the rear seatback, and then had to assemble the top inside the car and put the sub in inside the car.. mounted the amp and cap inside on a section of mdf that i had designed to stick out on the floor. obviously you can't use a big sub and a amp, but i like it and i keep my trunk. get compliments... my 2 cents.. also i can't provide more specific info like dimensions.. sorry just wanted to say it can be done and still have a functional top

I'm taking out my back leather seats and making my spyder a two seater. I going to fiberglass to fit two 12's and probably an amp. I pretty much have the idea how i'm going to do it, i'm just wondering if anybody else has tried it...maybe put sum pics up. I've seen a few people that coverted back seats to systems, i would like to know how they did the base structure. Wret converted his to a cover and roll bars which looks pretty cool.:thumb: Anybody else have backseat ideas....

won't be any pics soon, but it's pretty much just a box fit to the most i though i could slide in there and the base board i extended past the box to use to mount the amp on.... then i used your basic twine to pull the black cover up off the sub when the top was down. it's all secured with two heavy duty straps i tied to something.. it holds solid and doesn't move or bump around.... on second thought i might have some pics... i'll look when i get home from work.
