ok, i have been looking into buying a DVD nav, since i travel in my car alot; and i want to go with either an alpine or an eclispe audio or pioneer, but ive been to about 10 different websites, which some say all will fit, others say neither, and others say either or....

So can anybody help me out that knows which will fit and which will not, and if neither, what would i need to do to make it fit? Or any other suggestions on another brand/model,etc....

i personally don't really see pioneer as a super high quality product, but they aren't bad either. as for the units fitting, they usually aren't a problem because they are just a standard DIN, but all three units have an external box that you have to place somewhere else in the car...

The alpine has the best Nav system by far, the most POI's, and the most accurate mapping. the company that does the Nav disks for Alpine is the best out there. it is a little mre expensive than the others, but you get what you pay for! just remember, if you buy the Alpine, the Navigation unit is SEPERATE from the monitor. so you need to buy that too.

ok, thanks! im going tomorrow to look at the alpine. They say that have it in one of their cars and i cant see how i like compared to the others. So, ill keep you posted...

The shifter knob might get in the way if they have the slide out face... something to look out for.

A friend of mine has a flip-out Eclipse headunit. She doesn't seem to have a problem with shifting. I have never driven it though, so i can't speak with experience.

If I were you I would go with one of the Eclipse Double Din units. They look a lot better in the 2Gs. I work at circuit city and they should have a bunch one display at all the stores. The nav actually has a much faster processor than pioneers plus you can watch a DVD when driving by just grounding the parking break wire

No, no, no. Sorry I wasnt more clear, If you have a flip out DVD Player, it has to come a ways out, as long as the car isnt in a gear it should be ok. If it were just a deck, you would be fine, cause they don't flip out very far. Sorry for the confusion.
