Anyone know any outlet (other than the dealer) for finding the "Eclipse" lettering for the center taillight piece of a 2G? I found a nice set of old style all-clear tails for my car and I'd like to put the lettering on them. I've heard you can get them from MachV but they aren't listed on their website, maybe they're special order only or just discontinued. I was hoping not to get too much $$ wrapped up, I'm sure the dealer wants a pretty penny. Thanks in advance!

I have an extra centerpiece with the lettering on it laying around. Pm me if you're interested. You'll have to transfer the letters yourself. My friend did this once with a razor blade, tape measure and some super glue.

Just buy the whole center piece on ebay. I'm sure they can't be over $30.

Yeah I've debated doing that, I've seen them end right around $22 shipped. I was trying to refrain from having to peel each individual letter off and reinstall it on my new panel, but if I have to do that I'll probably just use the ones off of my stock center.

Not to mention too, you put one on the wront way or slightly tilted, it gets to be a pain in the neck. I've put my fair share of decals on for friends and takes a lot of alignment and concentration. Easy and will save you the hassel if you just buy a complete center peice.

My trouble is I need the all-clear center complete with letters. I couldn't pull off using a red center piece with my clear tails. I looked long and hard for a good deal on all 3 pieces in all-clear, so I'd imagine just finding the center would be rough. I didn't want Altezzas, they look a little "poser" for me. I was going for the clean look of the old all-clears that are now discontinued. Unless, of course, the piece that RWKustoms has is all-clear with lettering....then I'd be set.

You can't peel off the old letters and restick them and still have them look good.Your friend may have done it but it couldn't look too good.I recently removed mine as carefully as possible and the shiny finish wrinkles when its bent, there's no way to remove it without bending it.

If you don't buy the letters from MachV, you can always make a stencil of "ECLIPSE," using the same font, out of adhesive vinyl (the stuff you get at kiosks at the mall). Then stick that on and use some silver or white spray paint. I have a friend that did this with his valve cover - and I must say, he had some rather impressive results.

Nope, its the stock red centerpiece with lettering.

Actually, maybe you need some more skills :toobad: . My friend used the razor blade and very carefully removed the lettering and there were no bends or wrinkles. After he transferred the lettering he made sure everything was symmetrical and even, and the end result was that it looked pretty stock.

i can get you the lettering for 20 bucks. This shop near my house has it sitting on the shelf. I can go get it if you want.

So there WERE bends or wrinkles? Or is that a typo? A razor will scratch the old tail so maybe if you don't care about the condition of those when finished you can get them off without wrinkling them,I'd be more concerned with some $200 tailights than some $20 letters so maybe thats why mine were wrinkled. Either way you gotta admit its pretty ghetto when you can just order new ones that will look perfect.

Break out the pics.

I believe I have plenty of skill to have handmade the letters from aluminum.

No pics, after all they're not even minesWTF . Yes, that was a typo because there were NO bends or wrinkles. Anyways I aint trying to argue about something that I would never do myself.

I didn't mean to start aguing about it either as it really doesn't matter.I just looked at my removed letters and there is one that has no wrinkles in one spot so I'm assuming it CAN be done, but I just didn't take the time.

Bumping this, the first thread I ever made on this site, to add information.

Recently I painted a friend's center panel black to match her car, and I wanted to complete the look for her by adding the factory lettering to the center panel....although I didn't feel like shelling out the $50 for a factory decal, so I did a little research online.

Came across fastdecals.com, where after a little searching I found:

Mitsubishi Decals :: Mitsubishi Eclipse Decal / Sticker - Premium Custom Decals by FastDecals.com

Choose the 16" option to get the same size as the factory lettering. As you can see, it's available in a variety of colors and sizes in case you wanted to customize it yourself...but I went for good 'ol silver. Sure it's not the factory raised chrome lettering, but it's also 1/3rd the price...and I had the decals in my hand two days after paying. Not bad!
