Why doesn't it fit?

Well I bought some 6 1/2" Lighting audio because my stock speakers went to crap and I didn't wanna pay an arm and a leg for speakers. So I get the 6x9 in the rear just fine and start working on the door ones. I take out the speaker and bracket and remove the speaker from the plastic bracket and go to put the new speaker in the door. Well it's not big enough for it to fit so I look at that bracket and think to myslef I need that since the stock ones went in there and I need that extra inch so I can screw it all down. Well I take the new speaker and it doesn't fit into the bracket and it sticks out 1" from it. The metal side is a bit bigger then the stock ones(you know the back of the speaker the metal part). So my q is do I need an aftermarket bracket? If so were do I get one thanks.

Well if your just worried about using the bracket to get it to screw in then just take a dremel and cut the coned part of the bracket off...that way you still have the part which surrounds the speaker....

I had to modify mine to fit my infinities. Just take an exacto knife and go to town! (dremel will melt the plastic)

I took a dremel and a metal bit and got it rounded enough to where it fits. Doesn't look pretty but you can't see it anyways. I may take an excato knife to the drivers side because I had plastic shaving everywhere in my hair, nose, fingers, floor hell even the dog had it on his paws. and coat. LOL

I had the same problem with my LA's it was because the stock speakers are smaller than what the LA's are. Just take every ones advice and hack the cone off the back of the mounting bracket and if youre worried about moisture getting into the speaker than go to Pep-boys and buy a speaker baffle to go behind the bracket. :talon:

nahh I paid 30 bucks for em from Walmart so not worried about moisture especially here in NM. I just needed something so I can listen to some tunes. Thanks for the help everyone. :thumb:
