well after a long wait, i finally got my amp...i had the subs for a while but was waiting for the amp to ship..during the wait, i pluged my subs into a friends amp to see if they worked, which they did..

so i get my amp and hook it up...i dont put the subs on yet, i just turn on the car to see if it powers up, which it does...all the lights are on and the rca wires are plugged...when i go to put the speaker wires on..nothing happens, i play with all the possible wiring configurations and nothing happens..one time i just held the wires close to their terminals and you could hear crackling from the subs (which i took as meaning they had some sort of power going to them) but no bass...

so my question is...what am i doing wrong?

the power obviously works, if it was the amp turn on lead, then the amp wouldn't turn on/go off when the radio comes on correct?

could it be the rca wires? how could i check
could it some how be the speaker terminals from the amp?

i have two 12" kicker l7's

and stats on the amp are:

Two Channel Amplification
2 x 750 Watts MAX Output
1 x 1500 Watts Bridged
Fully Adjustable Electronic Crossovers
Variable Bass Boost: ( 0~12dB @ 60 Hz)
Soft Turn On/Off Circuit
2 Ohm Stereo Stable
Bridgeable Into 4 Ohms

is there something im missing? please help because this is realllly annoying!!! thanx guys!

also...ive been looking at wiring diagrams and all of the diagrams look like mono connections..if i have 2 subs, shouldn't it be in stereo? anyone have a diagram better than the one on the12volt.com? thanx again..

The remote turn on lead will turn your amp on/off when the radio comes on if you hook it up to the radio. Some people hook it up to the cig lighter and have a switch on it, to be able to turn it off.

If you have a spare speaker you can set the amp to full channel and test the speaker outputs.
If you have a portable CD player with a cable for RCA outputs you can play your CD player on the amp (I've tested my amp like this before).
If you have a voltmeter/ammeter you can check for 12v on the power side of the amp to make sure you have current.

Is your power and ground hooked up properly? Have a fuse in the front? You can hook up 2 subs in mono.

Here's a amp installation guide - http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-B3G4e5XJcKA/learningcenter/car/amplifier_installation_guide.html

Here are wiring diagrams for all 2 sub hookups - http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html?subs=2

You still in Tally? If you want we can meet and I can look at it.

if your rca wires are hooked to a sub woofer output on your headunit, make sure it's turned on - for example, my alpine headunit has a setting for sub out on and sub out off

ugh!!! well ive tried everything right about now and nothing seems to be working..i even switched my rca cables position on the head unit...my head unit has like 1000 terminals, which one does the one from the head unit to the amp for the subs go in? choices are:

front audio output terminal (left and right)

rear audio output terminal (left and right)

non fader output terminal (2-zone output terminal) (left and right)

video output terminal

tv tuner input terminal

dvd changer input terminal

or

video
audio in (left) } all under the "visual input terminal"
audio in (right)

also, if you have a high-pass/low-pass switch on the amp, put it on low-pass
if you have a bridged/unbridged switch, put it on unbridged
if you have a level dial, turn it up most of the way but not all of the way
read the manual for the headunit to make sure that non fader output is turned on

alright thanx..prob one solved..now ... if i link the wires up as shown below...it comes out to be 1 strand or positive and 1 strand of negative...but on the amp there are 4 terminals...so where do i put the 2 opposite wires? should i only fill 1 terminal or should i bridge them or separate the wires and have 2 separate +'s and 2 separate -'s? thanx!! :thumb:

an example of the wiring im takin about is...(excuse the -paint- illustration LOL)

the 2 speakers have separate wires, but i just twisted them together to form one at the end (2 positives turn into 1 single one [black] 2 negatives turn into 1 single one [dirty mahogony color])

so im saying, should i leave them twisted together or make separate wires...and then which +/-..+/-..terminal(s) should they go in? hope this makes things more understandable

what amp are you running

i have a sony xplod 1400watt monoblock and its internally wired in parallel so i just hook up each sub to one of the outputs.

you dont have to be in stereo to run 2 subs, just make sure your amp can handle the wiring ohm from your subs.
