Has anyone ainted their valve cover or just get it powdercoated?? If you did paint it what paint and steps did you use to paint it?? Thinking about a red valve cover and was just considering the options.:dsm:

I painted one of mine red once. I used 1500-2500 degree paint on it. I sand blasted it clean first then painted it. Then sanded down the surface of the lettering. It looked good and held up nicely until I over tightened it once and had to get a new one. Then the new one I sand blasted and polished.

yea actually i was talking to somebody and they said they sanded the hell out of theirs and it took them like 6 hours to do that and paint it.

when i painted my valve cover, i just cleaned all the grease off of it, went over it for about two minutes with a wire brush, and put prolly a half dozen light coats of VHT "flame-proof" paint on it. six months later, no scratches or chips. heres a pic (its pretty dirty but itl give u an idea..)
