Vinyl Help

I bought some bright blue vinyl today from a local fabric/craft shop.
I want to vinyl the doors where the sickly looking factory cloth is..
Anyway, I bought the spray can adhesive with the vinyl.
Any tips to offer? I have never done this sort of thing before..
Should I remove the stock cloth material?

On a side note, Is vinyl too heavy for a headliner?

it has a cloth backing to it
