OK i was bored today so i decided to put some LEDs in my vent. so for those of you who like this kind of stuff if your interior lights are colored with LEDs maybe you have some left over and i could tell how to do this, i took pics and all. but if no one wants it done i just wont tell how cause some people, maybe everyone might think its stupid but idk
I'm gona attach a pic its during the day though

Id like to see what it looks like at night. If the bulb is in plain view, don't know if id like it as much if just light was coming out of the vents, but no visible bulb.

Good work though :thumb:

I used to have mini strobes in all the vents on my old show car

I have some leftover LEDs I'm trying to find a use for, I'de be intrested in how you wired them in. I would want them fairly deep into the vent, so it would be more of a glow then a spotlight.

well here they are it didnt turn out quite how i wanted, they shine out too much rather than like a glow but to fix this im going to take it apart and turn them so they face straight down that will fix it so ill post another post how to do it

ok here it is

youll need:
soldering iron or gun
solder
some leds (like 6)
6 resistors
elec. tape
2-6 feet of wire with 2 things in it
flat screwdriver
a radio (manditory)

first turn on the radio to wild 99.7 :D

second you need to make an led cluster, use some wire and solder 6 resistors on the 6 leds it dosnt matter which side but i always do the short one
so make 1 cluster of 6 or 2 of 3 would probly be better make sure the leds are the same way otherwise they dont work...blah blah blah
tape the hotter side of the resistor so it dosnt bypass the resistor and blow the led

next take off the 2 face plate things by putting a flat screwdriver in and take all 3 wires off the top one

ok now you need a power source, i used my guage light wire since it was easy if u want to cut the other dash light wires go ahead

so then hook that up make sure its connected the right way too

now to take that vent thing there is the cold or hot swich thing on the right you have to disconnect that on 2 places see pic 1

ok now u gotta run the led cluster through the vent from the front back

now u gotta tape the leds facing out or down whichever i recomend down cause i put em out and its bright so tape em like the second pic wow too bad you cant see it from outside it looks so good, 1 more thing make it so when the flapper opens it will crush them then it wont block them halfway

now test it and adjust them just right and tape em again the more the better i love tape

yeah and put the thing back in and snap the 2 things on and check it again and put the things back on and wa laa so yeah if u have questiond or i wasnt clear on somethen let me know and ill try to clear it up so yeah

nite
psweet dreams (no its not a typo its a turbo haha)

When I did mine in the center vent, I used the LED out of the windshield washer nozzles. (very bright, and already has the resistor for 12v usage)

I just sanded down the tip to let the light spread better and then installed it as close to the middle plasitc piece in the vent.

If you place it directly behind this plastic piece the buld is only visible at certain angles and you get that glowing effect.

i had something like that at one point in time..but I had headlight strobes in 'em...was sweet(and freaking bright...I couldnt use 'em driving because it shown so much in the cabin) as a hell...but I was afraid of the heat damaging the lights, so I took 'em out....

I have the same thing in green, I love how it looks....I also have them in my side vents. Those look really cool also. Yeah if you want more of a glow just face them down. Looks cool good job :thumb:

hey guys thanks for the comments,

so eclipse gs how did u run the wire across to the door did u use a speical contact dealey or just run the wire across i was gona do the same but wasnt sure on that

Rob :talon:

Hey, sorry it took so long to respond, I have been out of the house for the past few days. I actually didn't run the wires into the door, what I did was put them in the little grill like thing that covers the vent that feeds the air into the door. If you open the door and look at where the vent in the door connects to the vent in the car theres a little protective grill, you can pry that off and put the LEDs there. I put two in and when you close the door you can see the glow comming from them. When you install it I wouldn't glue them in place until you can see them in the dark, it took a few times to position them right to get maximum glow. I kind of wish I used three LEDs but it may have been a little to bright its all up to preference. This may sound kinda confusing so ill try to post some pics tomorrow.

yes they look kinda orange cause my digi cameras like 50000000000000 years old passed down from my great great grandpa all the way down to me ok jk but thats a good idea i think ill do that too, if my intake dosnt come today :thumb:

Rob :talon:

yeah i was thinking about using some chrome (i hate chrome) spraypaint, that would make it better im not sure, i was going to put leds in the door vents today but my intake came in :rocks: :thumb: and then i had a bunch of crap my parents made me do :barf: so yeah mabie tommorow.

Rob :talon:

:rocks: :rocks: :rocks: i love that guy, a haha (sorry just got done watching family guy) a, a haha

so i took some pics i adjusted the center leds so they point all over up and to the sides so that helped alot but it wont keep me awake at night, a, a haha, very, verry funny it was.
thde sides turned out great, i just wired some up barley sticking out of the grill in the place the door vent touches the car just like eclipse_gs said :thumb: so here you go, let me know what you think :rocks: :rocks: :rocks:

Hey, Looks great :thumb: I like how bright they are. How many LEDs did you use? I finally got around to posting a few shots of mine, sorry it took so long. I also posted a pic of the space below the CD player. Its another slightly easy project to do if you get bored some day like I did. The only thing I would do if I were to do the little compartment below the CD player again is to paint the side of the LEDs that are facing you, they can be really bright and kinda annoying at night if you don't (I just used electrical tape). Well good job and good luck on any future projects!
