what backspacing do you need to put a 18 in rim on a 1st gen, and what size tire can you fit?, thanks for feedback. will rims from a dodge avenger fit on a eclipse also?

18's can fit on a 1gen.. if u don't want rubbing etc.. make sure the offset is at +40mm.. anything lower you might get rubbing if you drop ur car.. uhmm.. 38mm is very close.. the tire size that you would need tog et it 225/45/18... personally im getting 18's in the summer for my 1gen, i've done a lot of research, been to a lot of tire places and well the rim of my choice is the motegi mr5 chrome.. can be found here

and for tires.. i m getting Yokohama Prada's spec II.. link here

check it out =P .. hehe good luck!

shoot! i messed up.. tire size isn't 225/45/18 .. its 225/40/18 .. 45 would be for 17's.. if u were to get them (215/45/17).. if you have no idea what that means, reply and i'll explain =P

I have 245/45/17's and have never had a problem with them i dont know the offset but have never seen wider rubber on an awd dsm my car is not lowered and i ont know if my tires will fit when i lower it anyone ?

I've seen a guy on 18"s lower his car with sportlines (the big drop) and he runs a 235/40/18. I think a 245 wide would be pushin it though.

man.. i think 235 is pushing it, 225 is what it says in the books.. if u want a 245 your gonna need a really high offset.. like 45mm+ ... but then u gotta worry about ur rubber hitting ur suspension, and if you drop it.. worry about your tires hitting ur fenders when u turn or hit a bump...i personally wouldn't go with anything more then 225 =] whats another 20mm? heheheh

:dsm: Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Lotus, BMW etc usually have 18 inch wheels. When you study proportions you see that most high end exotic sports cars have 18's. Usually mimicking the proportions will make any car appear more exotic. If you put 18's on a 1G DSM car it will have more exotic like proportions. You can't make it wider or as low as a Ferrari, but you can have the same rim proportions. That is why I like 18's.
I am going to get some soon as I get more $$$$

18's o a 1 gen. no prob. i have motegi mr7's 1's o my 90 and they fit good. if you dont drop it to the ground. i oly slammed on a 1.5 inch drop with caliper correction set. rides alittle ruff but thats what you get with a drop and big wheels.
