All red tailights

I read a post on here that said if you use Candy Apple Red Translusent on your tailights, it makes them 100% red and still clear at the same time. Anyone actually done this, or just a theory, let me know, cause i really dont like the orange on mine

is the Candy Apple Red Translucent the right color for that, and do you paint the whole light, or just the orange part?

I've done the same thing on a couple of friend's cars. Just mask off all the other parts of the taillight and paint the orange portion with Testors Candy Apple Red Translucent paint. I believe the part # is 1605. You can buy it at any hobby shop for about $3.

is there a seal that needs to be broken when getting to the inside of the 2G taillights? And painting over the yellow with the paint will make the lights all the same shade of red??

breaking a seal to get to the lights? i was under the impression that you just paint the outter lense.

Yep just paint the outer lens, it's really really easy and the paint matches the rest of the taillight perfectly. It will look and flash red just as if it came that way from the factory.

did you clearcoat it after you painted the outsides? and if not, has it faded?

No I did not clearcoat it on the cars that I painted and no it has not faded. You can do that as an extra precaution if you are worried about it.
