Just thoguht I'd Share my first Repair on the car....I couldn't stand the Hatch SHocks being blown...also all the interior lights never came on when the doors were open...so i went to mitsubishi and bought two new Shocks for 27 a peice and a new door switch for 6 bucks...my dad figured out it was the little rubber thing on the door causing it...and the driver side one we got to work so i just put that on the passenger side and the new one on the driver side...dunno why I just hate all the little things that don't work...I like everythign to work properly.

My driver side door switch was only working on occasion. I went to take it apart to fix it and ended up pushing it inside the body LOL. Apparently it's much different then the 1g door switches.
Is there an easy way to get it out?

Yeah, that's probably road salt "helping" the connection. The door switches on 1G cars are prone to rot and rust out a hole at their mounting point. Pull back the rubber boot and check it out.

1g's are easy. Pull off the rubber boot, remove the screw, then unplug the wire. Take the switch apart (pay close attention it can be tricky to get it back together if you don't remember how) and clean off the copper terminals. They'll probalby be corroded. Put everything back together, hook it all back up. Enjoy seeing the inside of your car.

This will work but for a short while. The fact that you recognize the switch as being made from copper means the plating has corroded off and will soon corrode again.

I did them on my 90 and they still worked almost 2 years after.

well on 2g's i unsrwed the black rubber thingy and disconneted the wires...went to mitsubishi and they were 6 bucks for a new one...went home plug the wire back in and srwed it back on and BOOM you got interior lights...also i checked the fuse first but it was fine...he said the 2 g eclipses have had lots of problems blwoing those he said he has ordered them daily for awhile and they are gone within a week...same with the hatch shocks...but i knew that the went eeasily...but ya it was a simple fix...and you'll have light back at night when you go tog wet in your car....i hated not having them working.
