South Haven,
Okay, so I'm probably going to end up selling the Eclipse GS and buying a '95 Talon TSI. I decided that I want to get rid of the "DOHC Turbo" sideskirts and buy the ESI sideskirts. After this is accomplished I plan on debadging the car of anything turbo related. Are there any other dead giveaways that the car is a TSI? I don't like announcing to everyone that I have a turboed car, I'd rather surprise them off the line (and I know AWD would do a better job, but meh). So, anything else I should buy to make the car an ESI?

You could just shave off all the letters on the sideskirts. I like talon sideskirts, but I didn't like the letters on them so I filled them in and sanded them down to make the sideskirts smooth. I think it looks sooo much better that way...you can check my gallery to see if you like them. Did the ESi even have sideskirts, or was it an option?

Maybe the ESI doesn't have sideskirts... who knows. I just know that I wanna disguise the turbo as much as I can. How much noise does a recirculating blow off valve make anyway?

I don't know your mods or what your car looks like, but the dual tipped factory exhaust is a dead giveaway if whoever you're tryin to race knows ANYTHING about DSMs. I have seen ESi's with skirts, but dunno if they were factory. Another slight give away would be if you had the taller spoiler, but then again you only have to worry if the person knows ANYTHING about DSMs....and with the recirculating BOV, it'll vary, the HKS ssqv is still quite audible in recirculating form, most of the more audible BOVs would probably have the same effect, If you're that worried just go with a 1G BOV.

I'm not "worried" about it, I just want to give the effect of a non-turbo. And I don't own the car yet, I'm just planning, but as far as I know, the 2g's all have the same thumbnail spoiler, and the car has a 3 inch exhaust from the cat-back... so it just looks like another riced out n/t (sounds angry as all hell though).

When I bought mine, it didn't have the badges on the rear bumber. Soon after, I took the side stickers off. Since the sticker removal I've had half the number of idiots race me. Even now, not many people much attention. The gauge piller gives a lot away... a kid in a supercharged IS 300 wasn't sure what my car was until I dropped the hammer.

Tread lightly and carry a big stick I say.

If your car comes with the swoop side skirts, let me know... i'll buy 'em from you.

On my TSi the fender coverd are removed so you can see the sidemount pretty good. I have seen people actually stare at it before, just something to think about... If you stay in the 95-96 I don't think they have the high turbo wings. :talon:

move the actual muffler up under the car and then run a turn down and slap a single tip muffler under the bumper. take the side mount out, clean it with stripper, kerosine, or gas to remove oil build up. then give it a light dusting of flat back and put it back in the fender. if you run an aftermarket cd player you can put your guages in the other din slot, and if you want to take that a step further, put some tinted plastic in front of the guages and run the lights in them all the time. and if you want to, buy a set of light weight weld draglite rims, paint them black, and tell every one they are steelies.

ok two problems:

ESIs have no skirts and no door holes for them anywhere

the skirts are a dead giveaway that the car is turbo, but what can you do unless you convert to eclipse... but then the thumbnail spoiler is a giveaway.

ESi s had the spoiler, but base talon talons (RS spec) did not.

I'd say fill the skirts and leave em on. Don't run an A pillar, and if the I/c is noticable try flat black paint.

Other than that you are pretty much done.

actually
i have seen ESIs with sideskirts with 16v DOHC or something like that ,...just not the turbo on it

blcknspo0ln said to go to the dealer and get the ESI sticker. Im guessing he was joking but What dealership would i go toif hes not joking? Obviously there is no eagle dealer but where did all of there parts and stuff go to? I have been looking for a place to get the original stickers from. Does anyone know where i can go since probably theres no dealer to go to.

you would go to any Chrysler dealership

The badging on a 2g Talon arent stickrs like the 2g Eclipse, they are actually part of the plastic peices, so therefore you couldnt get an "ESi" sticker to make it look like a stock ESi.

The differences visually from a 2g ESi and TSi.

Lower trim moliding "16V DOHC" (ESi)
(both sides) "16V DOHC Turbo"(TSi)

Rear bumper ESi
TSi
TSi AWD

Thats it. To actually make it look like a true ESi, you would have to fill the "turbo" letterering on the plastic sideskirts, and actually buy a rear bumper cover from an ESi.
I am in the process of painting my car, and Im filling the turbo emblems and shaving the "TSi AWD" from my rear bumper cover.

Also some ESi's dont have foglights, spoilers, and they have crappy ass rims.

That isn't true, the bumper emblems are not part of the bumper. They come off with alittle heat. They just look like it since they are 3 deminsional and are color matched. They will come off. As for the sideskirts, they need to be replaced or filled.

they are the same as the silver stickers for 97+ (not the gels)

just painted over with body color...

Concentrate on selling and buying before you even waste time planning trivial matters related to your next vehicle. It took me 3 months to sell my n/t spyder, and I've been looking for a GSX/TSi AWD for the past 5 months to no avail. Winter is a bad time of year, I think, and it's aggravated by the fact that no one who owns a DSM takes care of it.

Aren't the door handles and the mirrors on the base models (RS,ES??) painted black?? I know on the GS, ESi, and turbo models the door handles and mirrors match the rest of the paint. You might try repainting the door handles and mirrors. I own a 1g and I look for that when I see a 2g. Good luck in your adventure...
