well im going to get new rear speakers/amp/subs and had a q. well i see a bunch of diff speakers ranging from 30-150. what would be over kill? i dont know that much about speakers. i know that i wont be getting a amp for my speakers. just for the sub.thanks

oh and does any one have a link or something to a guide on installing subs and amp stuff? thanks alot guys!

oh and feel free to tell me any sub/amp combos that are good/easy install. ill spend up to 400 for amp/sub.thanks again :thumb: :talon:

well i have rockford in the Front and i am veay happy with them. they cost 120. also make sure you have a better head unit than the stock one b/c a better head unit will have less distortion at higher level. so i say go for the more exspencive ones

If your not getting an amp for your speakers then dont go overkill with them. Most aftermarket head units only put about 20-25 watts rms to each speaker, so why get a speaker that can handle 200 watts? Its not worth the differance in price IMO. Your best bet is to talk to a salesman where your buying from and he'll steer you in the right direction.

this is what i was thinking. but i wasnt sure if there was more to it than that. ill try to get good speakers that can handle lil more than what the head puts out. im buying off the internet so im not going to see a salesman. ill be hittin up ebay! :thumb: :talon:

Not only is it not worth the difference in price, your speakers will actually sound awhole lot worse if the headunit can't feed enough power to them. No point in going over about 50 watts rms with an aftermarket HU. If you hook up something that needs 100+ to your stock headunit, it will sound awful and cost you more money than if you did it right.

I'd head to a Best Buy or something tho, and listen to some different companies, differenent speakers will sound very different.

And I'd recommend sticking with a company that you've at least heard of, typically the cheap, obscure crap is just that, crap.

I've got Kenwoods in all 4 corners of my Crown Vic, cost me under $100 cause I got display models, and I have Planen Audio 6.5's in the doors of my Talon, and Pioneer 6x9's in the rear. Both are plent of stereo for me :D

The good stuff often has names you've never heard before.

Not if it costs $50 and is on Ebay. I can almost guarantee no one in here's ever heard of my subwoofers, but they're about on par with $800 Eclipses. The good obscure stuff is expensive, not found by the floormats at Autozone.

Im running a complete Eclipse system now.
2 Eclipse 6x9 in the rear
2 Eclipse 6.5" in the doors
Eclipse HU
Eclipse AMP hooked to an 10" Eclipse sub in an unported box.

ITS LOUD as all hell, but really it doesnt bump. Eclipse gear (at least what i picked up) is for perfect music reproduction. High clean highs and crystal clear lows.
Now all i got to do is stop listening to poor quality MP3's on it....

I have SPL made by Power Acustics that were cheep and could easily compeat with other people Its all about the RMS and what Kinda deck you run. Typicaly the 5v preout decks are the best becouse they give your amp the most power from the back of your deck. This means your amp doesnt have to work as hard. I paid under 2000 for 2 competition 12's The Banpass box 4 tweeters 2 Lcd screens and 2 1600wat amps. I have managed to set off car alarms with the windows up 300ft away. The best advice I have is dont mix and match, it looks TACKY and no one wants that. :thumb:

I also haveto agree with mb quart 5 3/4 component w/seperate tweeter in door(tweeter is in stock tweeter location) 12in mb quart sub in back w/audiobahn 1800 amp 6x9 boston acoustic in rear. jvc head unit. very clean sounding system. I know of of quite afew websites with very good deals pm if you like address.

pretty good set and damn good advice except about the "dont mix and match and it looks tacky" I would have to disagree not all companys make good sounding speakers AND amps AND headunits most people dont have the money to buy a high end everything. they buy what they can afford i paid about 700 for my system all high end stuff. you just need to know what to look for and where.

I have mbquarts in the dash and reas and pioneers in the doors. all running off the HU, deffinatly loud enough for me.

oh, and to answer your ?! Just match your HU's RMS power to the speakers RMS power, and your set!!! I have 6x9's in the back, and 4's in the dash

What you say is true people do usually buy what they can afford However I still dissagree with you on the mix and mach. TSIMonster is right MTX is GOOD And they are a prime example of a compony that has good stuff all the way around. Here are some others AUDIOBAN, ROCKFORD, INFINITY PIONEER. And if you do wait and buy everything at once they will usually cut you a good deal. I still stand Mixing and Matching is TACKY. It may cost a little more to start with but it will save you a ton later when you are trying to finsh your car for show. And last but not least Dont forget the sound. Anything can be loud but smooth flowing is the best in my opinion.

mismatching is very tacky... but for some things like speakers, no one may ever see those but you! They only here them!! Go to Sounddomain.com and check out some stuff your interested to see the ratings and reviews!! I'm an MTX man myself, behind that comes Fosgate, JVC, and Infinity!! Just Check some reviews and ratings, I'm sure you'll be pleased with everything you get.

Although i'm going all rockford; i have 2 lighting audio 6x9 just for now. I also did some looking up and learned that RockFord makes stuff under other names (ie: lighting audio )
Lighting Audio is not as good Rockford (but cheper).
They need to make money so they sell out of walmart .
Another example is JbL is the cheper version of JL.

yeah im going to just get whats good for my head. hehehe. LOL. but really. i forgot to say that i have a aftermarket head. thanks for all the help guys!ill let yall know how everything works out. anychance anyone has a link pics or help to install back speakers on a 1gen?

IDK i had this name for like forever so i like to keep it

Im running a complete Eclipse system now.
2 Eclipse 6x9 in the rear
2 Eclipse 6.5" in the doors
Eclipse HU
Eclipse AMP hooked to an 10" Eclipse sub in an unported box.

LOL my cousin wants to do the same with his eclipse. he said if he had a ITR he would put alpine TYPE-R subs in, just for the awe factor of having speakers that match the car.

my setup
front - Infinity Perfect 6.5(if i remember, bought them a year ago)
rear - Rockford Fosgate 3.5" mid/tweets(housed in my custom box, removed back seat)
head - Poineer DEH8400
amp - Audiobahn HCT1300
subs - Audiobahn 12's(the cheapies for now)

the fronts sounded great, then someone jacked my front tweeters, so i hooked up the stock tweets to the front components and it sounds even better now. the rear fosgate minis sound excellent are super cheap. and the bass is just how i like it, low and deep, but not stupid loud. i just like bass to add quality to the whole sound, not to make the car next to me fall apart.
