I was toying with the idea of filling in the eagle head on the talon front bumper, anyone seen this done? i dont know if it would look stupid or not...anyone with photoshop skills put something like this together so i could get an idea what it would look like?

It's easy to take off, just pull it. I don't know how you could patch the depression though. That plastic doesn't fill very well and there's maybe a 98% chance a fine crack will appear in the shape of the depression.

Just wear the badge proudly! Us Talons are a rare breed.

Idk, maybe it's just me or somthing, but it seems like there is a ton of Talons compared to Eclipse's. Who knows maybe I'm just be too observative. -Matt

That's interesting, I always here it the other way. Whenever I tell someone I have an Eagle Talon, they say "Isn't that just like an Eclipse?" But if you tell someone you have an Eclipse, they rarely say "Isn't that just like an Eagle Talon?"

But anyway....

I did a search and couldn't find any production numbers, but that would be neat to see. Anyone have any idea how many 1g Talons/Eclipses/Lasers there were and how many 2g Talons/Eclipses?

sorry, didnt specify...im talking about the large eagle symbol on a 97+ talon bumper...you know, the one that looks like someone carved a triangular nose into the cars front bumper...

I try to envision it without that large crater, and i dont know if it would look right or not...might actually take away from teh aggressive look of the car

I dunno about 2g's but I have a talon front bumper on my 1g. I took out the badge and used body filler to fill it in. You cant even tell anything was there, only reason I debadged it is b/c I have a GSX. :shhh:

i tought it was molded into our bumbers. im gonna take the emblems off the rea bumper

it is, im talkign about that large molded eagle insignia on the front bumper...there is no decal there, just molded depressed plastic...im going to just take it to a body shop and ask them if its a good idea or not

i want to get it done, but to me if you take the emblem off its just not the same.

you can't just sand down the bumper and fill it with bondo, you need to use some sort of flexible filler that will flex with the bumper. otherwise its just going to crack when the bumper flexes

I think the early Eagle badge is just right (as are the Three Diamonds), but I also think that later molded-in logo is really, truly awful. Almost as ugly as something Pontiac would try to sell.
You know from its flexibility that you're up against a challenge with filling it. I don't know how well modern filler chemistry meets that challenge. The damned thing is just so big, it's a long bridge for fillers to make. I've seen it done on here, and apparently successfully, but it's a bit too much area afterward- the original Eagle ornament might fix it.

Here's a couple of chops:

one style has jsut the emblem like defiant posted, the other style is the engraved looking style. either should be about the same to smooth out. Iv seen it done at car shows before but then again they were show cars, probably not driven much so putting bono in there wouldnt matter that much. good luck

keep the badge! I love the way the talon badge looks! I plan on converting my GSX to a talon. Love the way they look! :thumb:

if it was a 95 there's a company that makes a generic 95 front with no logo, my ex has one on her eclipse....but 97...you'd have to fill it with flexible somethings....or body filler and pray no one touches it

THanks for the photochops defiant, I stand corrected! It looks much more aggressive with the front emblem filled...I am going to take it to the local bodyshop monday and see what they think can be done with it. I just sold my fourwheeler and have 6 grand to play with, my car is going to buschurs for a stage 3 engine upgrade and whatever is left is going towards a repaint and a little body work...i will post some pics when i get it all done

My car has an aftermarket front bumper on it, and it still has the depression for the "eagle" emblem, but no emblem. Its really not that noticeable.
Also, on that white talon pictured above, why does it not have the "side molding fins" like my 97? Were they an option?

Probably because it's more than likely a 95-96 with a 97-98 front end. :D

look again at the side profile... you aren't noticing them as much becasue they are white and from a low angle.

bumpers are the same as on yours.

You need to use a urethane filler... that is the only thing that might have a chance of not cracking... and it might be easier to cut the eagle and its recess out completely and smooth it over from behind with marine grade fiberglass, then use the urethane filler to give it final shape. that emblem is about 1/2 to 3/8 inch deep!

keep me posted though
