Hey guys,

Just wondering what kinda wax you guys use and experiences (both good and bad) with them.

Also for the detailer guys what kind of technique is the most effective for cars with a newer paint job for it's first wax?

I used to use Meguiars, then I found out about Zaino and I have never used another wax since. It can be a little on the expensive side but don't confuse it with Zymol which can cost up to a 140 dollars a jar. It is hand's down the best wax I have ever used, it is easy to apply and work's wonders. As far as wax on a new paintjob, it all depends if the car was bought from the factory new or if it was repainted. If the car was bought at the factory you can wax the car right away. If the car has been repainted you must wait about 2 months before you wax the car. The most effective way to wax all come's down to the person and how long you are willing to detail the car.

i use that black turtle wax. easy to use, no worries about getting white wax all over ur trim. (for the lazy). and it looks great

I use some stuff called "Awsome Gloss" my buddy uses it on his 70' Dodge Charger R/T . His paint job caust more than my car and my truck. So I guess it must be pretty dessent. Its a commercial use product, only sold by the gal. , he has to special order the stuff. I can get you the ph.# if you like.

for a while when i worked at a dealership i'd always use this stuff called "Ultimate Carnauba" or something, its what we would use on the news cars when people bought 'em and that stuff was the greatest. lasted a long time and made your paintjob look brand new.

i don't really have much problem w/ that. my car gets a little dusty sometiems but it doesn't really matter if you keep one of those california dust rag things and just whipe your car down real quick everyone now and again.

Well basically what I'm wondering is what kind of techniques should be used on a new paint job? The paint has cured and should be waxed for the winter months coming up. I've heard everything from not waxing in a circular pattern, just straight up and down to avoid swirl marks, to just using polishes.

I used to detail cars "back in the day" and my traditional habits might not be as efficient as the somewhat newer techniques I've been hearing about.

Do those colored waxes work for removing minor scratches? I got a long scratch on my driver's side door that looks minor, but very annoying.
