I got a GPS unit last Christmas. Now I can actually find my way out of the driveway without Mapquest. But how do people keep these things from flying around the car and injuring people? Well it's a stormy day here today so it was a good day to spend in the garage and fabricate.
Here's my all-to-mobile GPS solution. The base is quarter inch pvc sheet (scavenged from work) heated and formed to the dash. The wedge is plastic foam wood substitute (scavenged from a sample of material intended for a shutter). On top of that is a piece of 16th inch pvc sheet heated and molded to the the shape of the GPS. The whole thing is stuck to the dash with removable sticky putty. Total cost $1.39, for the putty.
