1G Eliminating sunroof?

i have a sunroof on my eclipse but i really dont want it too much anymore and i was wanting to get rid of it. would it b hard to weld it up or even get rid of it????

well your talking about metal fabrication, which would include cutting shaping welding grinding filling primering painting, not to mention the removal of the sunroof it self, which if its powerd, ud have to dissconnect all the wiring remove all the brackets, probably remove the whole head liner on your roof..... yeah i think itd be a bit of work. why do you want to get rid of it? i want one bad, but never seen anyone who wanted to get rid of it, but hey do as u will. if you got the time and know how and all that plan on spending a good bit of time workin on it if you want it to look perfect

The easiest way to get a sunroof "removed" is to go, peel the skin off of a non-sunroofed car (easiest to just cut the whole entire roof (from windshield to hatch) off) and have a bodyshop tack that piece of metal (hopefully dent\rust free) onto your roof and blend it in...... but you're looking at a pretty expensive project...


Is your sunroof leaking? creaking? squeeking? if so... there are numerous fixes out there to get you back happy with it.

well i just bought the car and it didnt have glass in it. and its going to b hard to get one to put it in and be a good amount of money. i went to one place and asked them how much it would be to fix it the said the glass alone would cost like 500 dallors.

If it's a factory sunroof, the glass will be nowhere near $500. Ask Mitsubishi Graveyard.

i got one from them it was 45 shipped and i was just asking bc if i couldnt get it to fit and not leak. its a power sunroof and all the wires is hangin down all over the place and i dont no where they go.

I bought my used sunroof glass with framework from a junk yard for $100 and it takes about 10 minutes to install. I also bought a new roof skin from the dealer for $220. If you were going to get rid of the sunroof I would just buy a new roofskin for the non-sunroof model and have a bodyshop put it in. The bodyshop will charge you a mint though.

Check out this pic. Easiest way to Remove a sunroof is to chop the roof and weld a new one on. I opted to weld on a roof that had a sunroof in it since I had none before. No matter what there will be a lot of body filling involved anytime you weld and cut metal.

yea i know its big i talked to the guy that i bought the car form he said it was like that when he bout it. so i dont know if its a custom sunroof or not. so im just in the blue about what to do with it. i think i mihgt just weld it up.
