personally, i wouldnt deal with it myself. just cough up the 150 to get it done proffesionally. :p

I've heard its a pain in the ass to get all the air bubbles out unless you've done it a few times. Now, my friend just bought a truck from a guy and he did the window tinting himself and it looked awesome and he just bought it from Advanced Autoparts for like $13... But he got pulled over by a cop and it was Blacked Out Limo Tint so he had to strip it off... *Virginia has the dumbest F****** laws i swear :thumbdown

back windows are the worst for me cause they curve top to bottom and side to side, door windows are easy if you take them out of the doors. I tried my first tint job on my old Rx7, didnt come out too bad, had a few problems with the eclipse rear little side windows, and havent done the back one yet.
heres a few of my rx7 rice tint heh

All you need is a heat gun (blowdrier will work), sharp razor knife (I use an olfa), rubber squeegy, plastic squeegy trimmed for tight areas, and a spray bottle. Add 1 qt water to the spay bottle, 2 caps baby shampoo, and 1 cap full of rubbing alcohol.
Spray the outside of the window with the solution and lay the tint down with the clear film up.

Next, use the heat gun to heat the film and shrink it to conform to the curves. Dont heat it too much because you will burn it. Use the rubber squeegy to pull it down tight.
After you get the tint to lay flat and smooth, use the knife to trim the outside border.

Once this is done, spay the inside of the glass liberally with the solution, remove the clear film for the tint, and apply to the window. Now squeegy it down using a firm pressure. The bubbles will come out easily with the shampoo and the alcohol helps dry the water under the film.

If yo come to any corners or edges that try to wrinkle, heat the outside of the glass to a mild teperature and then squeegy.

The tint will only look as good as the suface underneath so a good cleaning is required beforehand. If you car has been smoked in, clean with windex and fine steel woll first. Follow with windex and a sharp razor blade to scrape any other posssible trash from the glass. If it hasnt been smoked in, you can skip the steel wool. Hope this helps a little. Yes, Ive done some tinting and a friend of mine is a professional tinter. He used to do a lot of custom jobs for show cars.

i did mine myself...... i went through like 4-6 rolls of tint b4 i got it right, and now a few years later the edges are like chipped and comming up. Next time im having a pro do it LOL its just so much of a hassel and if u have a short fuse like me, forget it ull break ur window or somtin.

how do you guys think a red 98 spyder with black top would look with 5% tint?

It will look good but how are your local laws on tint? Here in VA, you can only have 50% on the front sides and 35% on the rear window and rear sides. I have gotten away with 20% all the way aroud my stang for a few years but have gotten a few warnings.

Did my fronts and quarter glass myself, it was a pain in the ass but it only cost $40 for pre-cut tints on ebay...the hatch is another issue. I wasnt able to it but i have zero patience. Goodluck if you do.... I cant find anyone around here cheaper then $200 for all 5 windows.
