Help w/ engine noise

Ok, it's been a little while since I have messed w/ car audio stuff but I just put in a CD player and amp. and I have some engine noise. I have never had a problem w/ engine noise in the last 2 cars I had this set up in. I really can't remember what causes engine noise, (bad ground-cd or amp, or running amp power cable to close to RCA's)? I am currently running all wires (Rca's, amp power, and speaker) down the wire harness by pass side sill panel and possb don't have the greatest ground on the amp. It's a clean, bare metal ground but it's a loose soder (holds but not real tight) on a 3' ground. I am also using a wiring harness for the factory tape/cd player. I plan on moving the Rca's away from the amp power wire a.s.a.p. and go from there. Any other ideas to help?

I just read a few post in the link to the Car Audio Forum (that I didn't see before ) and believe I have my power wire and Rca's to close.

its both bad grounds and RCA to close either can cause interfearence. you should keep grounds as short as you can ( dont run from the trunk to the battery ) ground cables on a amp over 2 feet is pushing it
