Is the convertible better or the hardtop? I heard convertible are known for leaks, is this true? Someone gimme some detail of the spyder, I'm looking to go from NT to Turbo but it's so hard to find hardtops here, lots of convertibles. Does convertible get cold in the winter? I never sat in one before, how does it feel/look like/etc.?

well....with the spyder the seats don't go down all the way for some reason.... heating and cooling was just fine... and yes all spyders do leak...i worked at a car wash and have owned a spyder...so i'm speaking from experaince....but they don't leak when it's just normal rain...only under heavy pressure...to help stop the leak line the tops of your windows with towles then roll them up so you have a towle stuck in there.....and spyders get REAL loud when going over speeds of 80ish....

I have not had any problems with leaks what so ever...not in rain..not when I wash the car..But I only wash by hand..neve in an automatic wash.

I would never trade in my Spyder as I feel now..its so damn nice to go cruise in the summer with top down..and spank som Porsches on the way** Its a real nice cae

I have never had any problems with my spyder leaking at all, the only way you can get it to leak is if you spray water full force where the windows and top meet, but even then maybe one or two drops get it, which would still happen to a lot of hard tops in the same situation. In terms of winter, I live in NH, we get some of the coldest, and my car warmed up faster than most of my friends cars. You have a lot more head room with no roof than you do with a roof. over all it's more fun. I personally thrive on cruising the beach with the top down, so no matter what it's worth it!

Convertables seats don't fold all the way back because of the left & right bulge in the back. I really don't know how I can explain it clearly but if you fold the seat all the way back you'd hit that speaker compartment anyways.

I don't have problems with leaks...only if you use a high pressure hose. Some nonconvertables leak also if you use a high pressure hose. BUT yea the noise level is kinda high. Thats why I have a bumpin system. To cover up the noise. :laugh:
One thing is that the Spyder feels SO FREAKIN flimsy. Its not sturdy. I drove Mustang convertables & they feel like a hardtop. Amazing, but they're heavy as he||.

Anyways, bottom line...You want an Eclipse its gotta be Convertable...other wise look else where. Try like a 98 M3 thats PHAT...I originally wanted a convertable M3 but it was out of my price range.
