i went to home depot to find some material to make a grill out of, but i couldnt find anything except some gutter topper stuff, but i have a 2 g and i dont think that would be big enough. does anyone know of any other places where i can get some stuff to make a grill? i dont wanna spend a lot of money. if you know of a place, please specify the section, or what exactly i should ask for.

try a different home depot. i know 2-3 right around me that stock the same exact grill.. just try to searh a little harder.

i found mine but had to buy the entire roll.. all six feet of it

I paid $3 or so for a 4 feet by 8 feet sheet of mesh. I also grabbed some caulk while I was there. Its like roof tar for filling in leaky cracks. It dries super hard, is cheap, and water resistant.

do you have any pics of your mesh?

Make sure you check in the metal department, not just the gutter supplies. And, I was thinking of trying some of the fluorescent light eggcrate grating, but wound up putting my license in there instead. I don't know if it'd be too fragile to last.

You might also want to check fireplace shops for other styles of expanded metal.

yeah i agree.. i'm a mason and we do lots of stone work for fireplaces and stone fronts. So i just take some "lathe" from work... and its cheaper than that crap that people buy from magazines heh looks pretty good too

i have the gutterguard on my car, it works perfectly. been on for a little over a year and still :thumb:

that does look damn good.... you got any better pics of the front of your car with the grill?

when i was looking for a grille, i didnt want to go with that typical aluminum ####y ones ppl usually get, i got the good stuff. its not sold in stores, but if u really have to get it, i can get more for you. this is stainless steel grille that is used to line the walls of observational cells in prisons. its very fine, but lets thru all the air, it stops everything, small rocks, twigs, leaves, even small small bugs, i just hose them off and im set. its very strong, it doesnt bend well so if you are making a shape out of it its hard. cutting it is not too too horrid, but it can be tough. it was attached with a urethane compound on my car, i did not want to put holes into my bumper that can crack after the screws are in place. i traced the opening shapes onto the mesh with a maker and left flaps to fold over the egde of the bumper on the inside of it. its been holding great so far, i've had it for a while and my new radiator is perfectly clean, do dings, no leaves, no bugs, nothing. heres a picture of the vent on the front bumper, driver's side by the fog light, this one protects my intake filter. I would recomend this material to everybody, its very very tough, which is why we have those in the first place there.

i mounted 6 L shaped brackets (1") to the inner of the bumper and used zip ties to hold it in, I threw away the clips that came with the gutterguard. Hope that helps

I was thinking about doing this but lets say your turbo and have a intercooler. Wouldnt the mesh stuff sorta block the air flow some? esspecially if it was a small mesh:confused:

Does anyone make a nice grill for the 2g? Not some cheap mesh stuff but something clean.

ill try the home depot stuff first since it costs 5.60 for 5 sheets of it, and it looks like it fits, and if not then ill try something else.

it might block a little bit, but it would protect your intercooler more than anything... even rally drivers have them. the stock evo comes with a front mount and a mesh in front of it. the reason why most people (i've found) dont put anything in front of their fmic is cause they want to show it off. if you wanna protect it, invest in a nice mesh, if you wanna show it, then leave it.
