i know this may have been asked before, but i found nothing when i searched for it, so maby one of you could be helpful, i have a 1995 eagle tallon and want to convert to a eclipse, i hate that ugly eagle front bumper, do you know if all front bumbers that fit eclipse will fit my taloon and get rid of the eagle sign? and also do you know if 1998 eclipse front lights will just fut my taloon, cause i want to get rid of my lights also. And what would i have to do to the rear to make it look like a eclipse? Any helpful input would be greatly appreciated, thanx in advance.

check ur spelling 1st...TALON...just one "O"

i would get a little more specific on ur searches. "eclipse swap" in the search brought up 582 threads. "eclipse front end swap" brought up 17 threads....

eclipse front end swap

:thumb:

You obviously didn't search very hard. Yes any eclipse front bumper will bolt up to your talon and to make it look right you need 97+ head lights as well or there will be a gap. And yes the head lights will bolt up as well.

thanx once again im sory for not being able to find anything, now how about the rear bumper swap is that possible?

that's the truth. i find everything i ever need to ask by searching on here. seems like ppl ask the same question @ least 2 times a week. kinda gets old reading the same stuff. but there are some twists where someone might need info and the searches dont give everything that's needed. but this topic is not one of them. :|

Did you consider looking in the tech articles section?

WOW, dont be fooled by the link above becuase it is no whrer near that easy. Thats just a basic , but the directions for tghe rear swap are terrible. If you have a eagle talon the eclipse tail lights will bolt right up. But the bumper........ you are in for some serious fabrication . I was about to post the same original question as this thread was started upon, and if anyone was to flame it ,
they obviosly didnt read the article
and obviosly never did the conversion. This question is bound to come up over and over again. Becuase the article needs to be a bit more thorough.
NE way what isnt in the is the custome brackets you need to make/or modify stock so that the eclipse bumper doesnt hang 3 inches below the tail lights. So if anyone has info on this oplease respond. Maybe its easier to order the mounting brackets from dealer and have them welded/ or you can easily drill some holes and bolt them on. ?
Is that even possible to get 97-99 rear bumper mounting brackets from dealer.

I have just one question...

WHY CONVERT A TALON TO A ECLIPSE?!?

Why would you turn a less common talon into a eclipse? I think the Talon looks far nicer than a Eclipse does, plus (at least in my area) there aren't as many talons out there.

I was just curious as to your reasoning for the conversion.

the only thing i don't like about the front of 2g talons is the huge eagle thing on the bumper :(

They were only huge for the last few models. And I'm with you, it looks like crap. But then, so do the wing-stumps on the doors. I wonder if they were just tired of dealing with having to sell and service them, and were actually trying to drive customers off to Mitsubishi instead.

im with u guys. i dont like the later talon front ends, but i like mine. and i dont ahve too many talons around here. seems like everyone wants to do a eclipse swap

The talon rear actually grew on me . I have 2 of em. So you get used to it.THen someone said to me "how many eclipses' do you see at the track" they meant how many full blown race eclipses. thatrs when i thought thats funny cuase IMO i see more talons at the track. So i grewv to like the original rear . And would do the swap, but im going with supra tail ( my minds maid up so please dont bother flaming) and the eclipse rear is easier to work with.

i dont know i dont actualy like the eagle front bumper i might just rplace it with a aftermarket eclipse bumper, now i need the lights, the back is pretty ugly too, not the bumper so much, as the lights, in the moddle and on the side, theyre too much. then ill have a half eclipse half talon LOL cause by the way the rear bumper swap souds i might just leave it stock.

^^^ got an idea for you. Get some of those wire lights and wire them into the talon cenetr piece so it lites up with the other 2 tails. IMO thats gonna look badass.

Why convert you ask.. I looked for three weeks trying to track down a 98 front bumper for my wrecked 98 tsi. and it was like pulling teeth.

SO i just got the eclipse and converted..

the rear was easy for now.
I was just going to do a temp job and install 2 inch bolts on the side with some plastic in between the bumper and the bracket.. and some thread stock in the center. with nuts and bolts. I thought it would be temp. but now that it is on and seems pretty dayum sturdy . It may end up just being permanant.
seems kinda ghetto but it worked. everything lined up perfectly.

yea its hard to lacate a eclipse front bumper in michigan, so i will most likely just buy a aftermarket one, and projector head lights for the eclipse to put in my talon, after that i will just concentrate on giving it a little more power, by the way what do you guys think about those cold air intakes on ebay are they any good, the ones for 50 bucks, or should i buy the injen or aem?

I don't suppose you have any pictures on this, do ya?

I dont have any pictures and don't assume i can get my camera to get any good pics of it now that the tail lights are installed.

But all i did is where the Talon bracket is put a piece of strong thin pvc

(it isn't exactly pvc is is grey and in the same isle at the hardwear store it comes threaded on both sides)

then the bumper ...then i put about an 8inch peice of thread stock
(that is just a threaded rod about 3 feet)
and put nuts and washers on both the top and bottom..

I put the road thru the nut that is welded to the talon bracket.

It was easy as that.. so all in all there was 11 spacers (peices of pipe)

NOTE the thread stock was only in the center (5 peices total)
the outside was 2 inch bolts. (6 total)

LIke i said it was only temp. until i take the car from kentucky to delaware where my welder is. but it seems so darn sturdy i plan on just leaving it alone unless i remove the bumper.

hope that helps if that doesn't maybe i'll be able to get pics from underneath.

I converted mine cause i hate talon front and rear bumpers.

My kit was customized so much it was in the shop for a couple weeks. The rear has customized brackets to hold an eclipse bumper aswell as a few others placed in the corners to keep it secure. The rear was cut and refibreglassed so it fit tightly with the tails. The sideskirts were cut in 3 places and fibreglassed again to fit tightly with the body.

The front was the fun part...... i opted outta the eclipse headlights since everyone says the aftermarket projectors aren't the greatest. The front end was cut into several peices and fabricated & fibreglassed to fit around the talon headlights and hood.

lotsa time and money..............but well worth it!!!

so i'll take a couple pics with the winters  this weekend

why would you want to do a rear end conversion on a talon to make it look like a eclipse?

the talon tailights kinda look better..it would be a waste of money

u should of just boaght an eclipse while u were at it..
