my car has been down for approx 6-7 months now. I found out recently that I ave a cracked block!
In search of a new eng/block I came across a 2.0 Turbo eng in Excellent condition that I can aquire really soon.
I was told that if I swapped it that I would also have to swap the tranny. Both eng are out a 5spd. Is this true?

read the guide in the tech section, it will tell you all you need to know about doing this.

my nt block is a 6 bolt, and both of my turbo blocks are 6 bolts.

might want to my ass. unless cindy plans on not going over 50% throttle an upgraded clutch (nt that is) is an absolute must.

Well I'm gonna go ahead and attempt to find a front wheel drive turbo tranny in a salvage yard to see if I can get lucky. Pull aparts out here arent so bad as long as you know what you are looking for and can get it off.

Your non-turbo transmission is fine. Just upgrade the clutch.

found a new dilema...
my car is a 92 and the eng is out of 93. doesnt that increase the possibility of it being a 7 bolt.

If it's from a 93 then it WILL be a 7 bolt. But don't worry the 1st Generation 7 bolts are still pretty stout.

Also does this new engine also come with wiring harness, turbo airflow sensor and turbo ecu? You'll need those. Well actually the wiring harness isn't a MUST as you can just wire in the extra wires needed into the NT harness.

are you trying to turbocharge your N/T 4G63? I went through that proccess 3 years ago in my galant gs-x (awd N/T), let me tell you... it was a pain! If you are planning on doing that, then i highly suggest that you run the additional "turbo" parts that you are lacking if you really love your car. if not, you'll end up like me... "3 shattered ring lans, and 4 melted pistons." This is what you will need.

parts from any of the turbo cars, 91+
1. Turbo/manifold/02 housing/ downpipe.
2. ECU/Injectors/ injector resistor pack
3. Knock sensor
4. 92+ cam angle sensor from a turbo car.
5. Run extra wires and find missing connectors at a junk yard, - MAF/Knock/Injector Resistor pack. or buy a wiring harness.
6. MAF or mass airflow sensor "7 wires coming out not 6"
7. intercooler and piping
8. throttlebody and t/b bracket.
9. Intake cam. on turbo cars, intake is retarded either 5 or 7 degrees.
10. blow-off valve.
11. different ac fan?? im not sure... i had to remove the one on my galant, i don't know about eclipses if n/t and t cars have the same one.
12. Fuel pressure regulator
13. Fuel pump or upgrade to walbro
14. some type of manual boost controller so you don't have to wire in the stock one...
15. turbo block/ bottom end with lower compression pistons and oil squirters.
16. oil pan for turbo oil return
17. Water tube. for coolant return
18. different thermostat housing for turbo water feed.
19. intake tube
20. misc.... hardware etc....

OPTIONAL but highly recomended to be safe.
16. Air/oil - Oil cooler = oil filter housing off a 90 turbo DSM.
17. water/oil - Oil cooler = oil filter housing off a 91+ Turbo DSM, in addition, you will need a different Water tube which contains the return for the oil cooler.

Well... Hope this really helped. I've always been asked "how much does it cost to do all this?" Lots of time/ swear words/ frustration/ and money... my usuall response now... is that it is cheaper to sell your n/t and buy something that is allready turbocharged to begin with! But, if you really love you car, like i did... "its worth it" :thumb:

Good luck and Enjoy
