After having a couple of ECU's go out on me, I am planning on getting a remanufactured one. My question is, if I get a TSI or GST computer, what is the minimum I would have to convert for this computer to work on my car. I am planning on doing the turbo conversion next spring, and I don't want to buy two new ECU's if I can get bye with a turbo one from the start. Any help would be appreciated.

You may want to clarify what you are asking. What do you mean when you say what is the minimum? Minimum amount of money? Minumum amount of work? Just get turbo ECU, weather it be a TSI, TSI AWD, GST, GSX, RS Turbo and get the caps replaced at an electronics shop.

I meant the minimum amount of work. In other words can I just plug it in? Or do I need the knock sensor, MAF sensor, injectors, etc... from a turbo for the car to run in it's non turbo state.

Thanks.

Just wait till you go turbo to do everything cause it will only cause problems. To swap in an ECU, injectors and MAF on a car take no more then a hour if you know where everything is.

It's not the time, it's the money. I would rather not have to buy another N/T ECU for who know's how much just to turn around in two or three months and buy a turbo ECU.

I have a non-turbo ECU. It's yours for $40US + shipping. e-mail me [email protected]

You can try a turbo ECU but when it doesn't work out the way you want, e-mail me.

when i had the turbo wiring harness and parts on my nt motor (after the first engine's rebuild went south) i couldn't rev over 4500rpm with out it freaking out and stuttering. gas mileage sucked too.
