So anyone have any problem with their star turbo manifold breaking? I haven't even had the manifold on the car a month and the other night both corners of the manifold cracked and broke. i found this out after I assumed that it was the exhaust manifold gasket that broke, removed the turbo & got the manifold off to discover it broke. Is there any kind of warranty on the manifold (as I assumed that the cast iron manifold shouldn't have broke that easy). Any help would be appreciated.

I'm going to call Overboost tomorrow and see what's up. Is it possible that I just got a bad manifold? Think they might replace it for free (as I have only had the kit on the car for not even a month yet and the entire kit is only about 4 months old)

Kind of a bad time for this to happen, especially since I'm trying to sell the car:cry:

Update:

I'm talking with Overboost and they just asked if the kit came with any warranty information. Of coruse this is almost 3 months after I initially opened the kit so I don't know for sure if it did or not. I might end up having to buy a new manifold instead of getting one for free which will piss me off.

Ouch. 5 months here without a problem.

If worse comes to worse and you have to buy a new manifold, try quoting importparts.com. I talked with them about sending me a new intercooler and they seem to have good access to the Star (or is it Drag?) manufacturer. This way you will atleast have two different prices and sources to choose from. How long did it take after you ordered your kit from Overboost until they shipped it? I ordered from Wyatt and it took just under two months! Worth the wait, but the longest two months of my life :)

It took me about a month to actually get it. I was just reading the letter included with the kit and boy did they cover their asses:

"Should any part prove defective, you the buyer, and not the maufacturer[SIC], distributer, retailer, assumes the entire cost of all necessary repair or service and nay consequential damage, cost or charges or any liability. Competition parts are sold 'as is' without anywarranty of any type..."

So essentially, they sell me a cheap piece of shit manifold, and I get ####ed out of my money. Sorry for the swear words but that is just downright wrong to do. They should have some accountability over the products they sell.

I wouldn't warranty something like that if I was a manufacturer. One of the reasons that it probably broke is the fact that your downpipe doesn't have a flex section. Only way I would warranty it is if I was the one that installed it. So many people install shit wrong and break it there is no way to stay in business.

Yeah but if you look at it, it's not broken in a fashion that would have been caused by the lack of a flex section in the downpipe. This would have been evident by the manifold bolts being slightly bent (as the force to break a cast iron manifold in this fashion would have to be great). I will take pics when I get the new one in. Importparts.com quoted me at $450 shipped so as soon as Overboost comes back to me with a response I'll have an idea of what I'm going to do.
