MS install so far with pics.
I started my ms install today and just did some basic stuff. Here are some pics of what I have done. Keep in mind that I am doing this install with the intent of being able to go bact to the stock ecu with ease. I didn't want to drill and tap anything.
I started by installing the 2 sensors that you must use with Ms(Intake temp and water temp). I teed the water temp with little trouble. I think that being teed wont effect the temp readings too much. For the intake temp sensor I wanted to make sure it got good flow. What I did was unscrewed the three prong tap for the vacuum and put the new sensor there. I then took out the stock intake temp sensor and made a tee for that and the vacuum port. I figure that after I have the ms running fuel and spark the stocker wont be doing much. Even if it does it will get close to perfect readings anyway. Then I loomed up my ms harness and fed it through the stearing column gromet. I installed the power with a 20 amp fuse to one of the wires for the isd relay. I installed the ground to the factory ground.
Then I had to install the lines for the new afpr that should have came yesterday.(damn ups) This was not to much trouble and is pretty selfexplanitory. I was hoping that the fittings for the stock fuel filter assymbly were npt. But alas they wernt so I had to do the ruber hose with hose clamps trick. Had to delete the pics for my write up.

Sam I am a little concerned about the sensor being so close to the manifold. Can you reconfigure the "T" so that one sensor points forward and the second sensor points towards the belts?

Looking good, otherwise. One of these months, I'll finally finish my install. I know the MS is around the garage somewhere....

Got the car running today. The aeromotive came in and was easy to finish up. I am still using the stock ecu for fuel and spark right now till I get used to the msns. Will post pics soon.

Stock as of now. Terry sent me an extra injector harness wit pigtail. Only looking at it I thought it was the same harness that was on my car. Turns out, it's different so instead of taking out my injector harness twice (once for the ms and again for swaping injectors). I will wait for my 450's to get here to do all that. This will also give me more time to play with ms. Megatune has got me trippin' right now. It's still cool to see everything going on in real time and to be able to log.

I got ms all wired in untill my injectors get here. I really wanted to mess with the stock injectors before I go to the big ones. I cant really get to the injector harness without removing the rail. No sense in doing that twice in a week. Here is a pic of my car pc running megatune and monitoring my vitals.

(Thinks about flippin' the bird.....) My dsm 450s should be here in the next couple of days. I just have to figure out what numbers to put in for the injector characteristics on ms. The 450s are low impedance and wont work right at my current settings. Terry sent me 2 maps one was his for his 550 high impedance and the other was dougs 780's. After looking at the numbers I think dougs are low impedance injectors. I will play with it. I also found someone on 2gnt running ms with the same injectors. I sent him a pm to try and get those numbers. I still need to read more to completely understand and mantain all this stuff. So waiting a few days for my injectors is no big deal. If they come tomorrow I might have to dive in though

Terry told me the other day that all you gotta do is just change the injector characteristics from saturated to peak and hold since you're using low impedance injectors. You thought about flippin the bird at me huh

See: http://www.megasquirt.info/index.html
"setting the constants" and "setting the PWM"
That should clear that up and make it pretty clear for you both.

Im new to the engine management world. I am currently just using a SFMU. Im very interested in switching to MS and have a few questions for you.
1. Which MS are you using ? IE MS-1 or MS-2, MSnS
2. PCB or EFI?
3. Which additional things are needed in conjunction with just a basic MS setup. ex: Aeromotive 1:1
Sure is great to have a Engine-Management forum for us N/T's
I was wondering if you could inform me on what I need to get (pre-installation stages) for MS. Thanks for any help. Figured this would be a good thread to ask in. I just want to get caught up to your first post since I know absotutely nothing about it.
Selmerguy - I look forward to a how-to write-up when you're setup is finished
