95 neon tranny in 95 gs
Ok, I have read that you can use some neon tranny's on our 420a's.
But what all info do I need to know about the neon in order to tell if it will work on my 1995 GS. I cannot find a eclipse tranny in the state, so I am forced to look at my other options. Any and all info will be appreciated , I found a guy on craigslist, selling a 95 neon 5 speed really cheap, and I want to know if I can use it!?.............

I did an NT eclipse a while back, its the same clutch 'I think' but, 'I think' the bellhousing is different.
Its one of those modular clutches as well.

You would have to switch the bellhousing or half case on the neon trans from a cable clutch to a hydraulic clutch. If I remember right dodge switched the neon from a cable clutch to a hydraulic clutch in 2000 or 2001, and those will replace transmissions in the non turbo 95-99 eclipse's and talons without having to switch the half cases.
The only other difference in the neon transmissions is the final gear, most have a shorter final drive, do a search for nv-t350 and you will find the gear ratios and what year and model they were installed in. The search will result in every car this transmission has been used in.

So, as long as I change over the bellhousing, the neon trannsmission will work fine right?...
I'm not too worried about ratio's, I just want to get my car on the road for the summer. (In Alaska summer is very short)
All so does anyone have a link to an exploded view of a neon transmission?..

OP, just need to switch the bell housing and maybe do axle seals while you're there (also check input shaft seal).
You will notice the ratio difference though. I'm currently running a 3.55 in my daily. Kind of annoying with the mostly stock power (though I do have 10.5 to 1's in there. Helps it lug a bit more). I end up driving around in 1st-4th gear unless I'm on the highway.

So, now I'm doing a parts search. Because the guy who had the 95 tranny won't get back to me.
What my question is which option of neon do I search for?... This is a list of what options they give me
A.T., 3 speed
M.T., ACR
M.T., R/T
A.T., 4 speed
M.T., exc. R/T and ACR
I know I'm looking for a single cam version, but which one of these has got the NV T350 3.55, in it?....

Well I just finished my neon tranny swap, every thing went together great!
I ended up using a 2001 neon tranny with 8000 miles on it. ( I payed 700 for it)
I blew my old tranny up so bad, that had even had holes in the bell housing.
Thankfully I didn't get the 95 transmission, just to find out later my bell housing was bad during the swap. But I just wanted to say thanks for every ones help!!
It isn't easy to drop 700 bucks, on something that may or may not work, Ya know?...
Ya'll should of seen the guys face at the salvage yard, when I told him I was gonna use this neon tranny in my Eclipse, PRICELESS !!
