SRT-4 turbo

No.

Unless he does some well needed fabrication.

To put it simple, the SRT-4's engine is reversed (Exhaust Manifold on the backside of engine and Intake Manifold vice versa). Not to mention different engines (A853 and 420A).

If he thinks its going to be a direct bolt-on....he is in for a rough ride.

Yes, I am bringing up an old thread.

But I personally know Alden, raced autocross with him when I owned my Neon ACRs. I know a ton about the Neon DOHC Motor, and the SRT Turbo motor.

And the SRT Turbofold WILL bolt up to the DOHC motor. Thats it. Nothing to it, bolts up exactly. In fact there quite a few Neon people running the SRT turbofold on their 2.0 DOHC neons.

Just like the head from the SRT is almost EXACTLY the same as a regular DOHC Neon.

Are you sure about that? I have both a DOHC 420A exhaust manifold flange in front of me, as well as a detailed photograph of the SRT4 manifold. The SRT4 manifold appears to have two extra bolts. Even if it does bolt up without those two extra bolts, the Eclipse/Avenger 2.0L 420A is mounted oppositely to the Neon/SRT4 engines. The turbocharger would be on the opposite side and likely hit one of the accessories or the thermostat housing.

it will indeed bolt up.............. will it hit the accesories? i dont know about that. the only difference is the exhaust port shape........... the srt port shape is rectangle instead of an elongated oval like on the 420a and dohc neon heads.

Im not sure about putting the turbofold on a 420A Eclipse, I dont have easy access to one right now, otherwise id mock it up on my Eclipse to see.

There is not much space between the back of the head and the firewall on a Neon.... So it would be close.

Only thing id really worry about is piping the turbofold up... Dont know if there would be enough room to pipe it up on a 420A Eclipse. Youd have to get creative.

But on a Neon, I know it works. Ive seen it done, fairly easy too.

The Neon 420A and Eclipse 420A heads are IDENTICAL in physical Shape. IF you look at the Eclipse 420A Head, on the Exhaust side, it is prepared with notches to be bored for the Injectors to allow a Neon IM to be bolted to the Exhaust side of a Eclipse 420A Head. Same with the exhaust side of the Neon 420A Manifold. Also the cams are completely reversed and flipped 180 degrees.

So I belive the Neon's Intake Gasket is the same shape as the Eclipse's Exhaust Gasket. And Visa Versa.

These motors aren't like the Evo/Eclipse 4g63 Change. Ya know, Eclipse's Cam gears are on the Driverside, Evo are on the Passenger Side. Both 420A Cam gears are on the Passenger Side. The cams are just completely different and not interchangeable.

I do not know about the SRT4 Motor. I know it is VERY, VERY similar in physical shape. But I know things aren't the same. I do not know if a SRT4 IM is the same as a Neon IM, Same with everything else.

It might be possible to devise a cool Turbo Intake Manifold... bolt the SRT4 Turbo/Housing to our intake... weld on a Throttle Body... :thumb:

But there is no possible way to bolt on a SRT4 Manifold to our Exhaust Side. Its just as easy to bolt our intake manifold onto a Neon Exhaust Side.

all dohc heads have the same exhaust bolt pattern but intake pattern changed with the srt head. :thumb:

actually the intake bolt pattern changed in 2001 with the startus, pt crsuider, etc (on the non turbo 2.4 engines)

Indeed... I don't know how they can have the "exact" same bolt patterns if one has two extra bolts...

Since vendor photographs aren't always accurate, here's a stock SRT4 manifold for comparison... same issue: two extra bolts.

...and a standard 420A/Eclipse flange for comparison:

Im fairly positive the two extra bolts are a non issue.

I know it bolts up and works with a regular 95-99 Neon DOHC engine.

This was never really meant to start about it bolting up to an eclipse, although it may be possible, but was merely meant to state that the SRT turbofold will bolt up to a Neon. I was browsing some searched stuff and came across this. When the one guy that posted that Alden had alot of work to do bolt it up, just wanted to inform people that it is not that hard at all.

Cool all fixed :thumb:

Now, Eclipse 420a application is unknown. A few possible conflicts.

Paul did show the manifold differences, only two extra bolts, shave that off and then move onto the next problem, Looks like it would hit the hood or radiator?

hey i just said it would indeed bolt up to the head (not fit in the engine bay with out any clearance issues) and those 2 holes are not an issue like stated above.

Looks like the turbo could hit the hood, radiator, radiator hose, thermostat housing...........

Don't bother, there are better options out there.
