Need some serious help here. I just ordered about $1000 in exhaust parts for my 96 Spyder 2.4l. I got the Catback system that supposedly fits the 95-99 RS/GS and was told it would fit the spyder. My question is will it fir or do I need to call and cancel my order? I believe it will because the cars are almost identically the same as far as exhaust goes. Not sure though; just need some quick input. Plus I've been looking for a short ram or cai for it. No luck there. I'm just trying to get rid of this valve whistling under hard or even slight acceleration. ANy ideas? I really need to know about the exhaust quick though!! Thanx!!:thumb:

Sorry about all the confusion mr defiant moderator man sir. I was just looking for some quick help. Wasn't sure about which forum to put my question in so I kind of asked two questions. To kinda spread the load out. Maybe someone would see it easier and answer it quicker. Thought that was what these forums were for. Not just to shoot someone down. I thought maybe the one reply I saw when I logged on was the answer to my question but I guess not. You closed the other thread. Now lets see if you can answer this one. Or maybe someone else can help me.OMG

No need to cancel your order other than the fact that you spent way more than you had to. Actually, the ideal exhaust would be the factory GST setup. You could probably find one on DSMtrader.com for less than $100.

But yes, what you bought will fit...all 2G exhausts are the same other than diameter of the piping.

Hey TBSpyder, how do you figure I spent too much and that the factory GST exhaust is better. Isn't the GST exhaust press bent and tiny? For $900 I got gauranteed second day air, 2 1/2" Borla s/s mandrel bent catback, high flow cat, a ceramic coated header, and a short ram intake. I don't think I paid too much cause it the entire exhaust comes with lifetime warranty and I got all that for under $850 actually. Where did you get your intake and what kind is it? I'm having to engineer mine to fit. If you have a good link to a bolt on intake it would help!! Other thanthat I guess I'll have to make one.

Sorry, I thought you meant the exhuast alone was $1k. I never said the GST exhaust is "better"...I would consider more of a "budget-minded" choice. No, it's not mandrel bent, but it's a higher flow muffler (without being overly obnoxious and raspy) along with 2 1/4" piping...which is all you really need on an N/A eclipse. That along with a test-pipe would be all that's really necessary. It's just my personal preference to not spend that much on a mod that only nets you about 4-5whp anyways.

About the intake, you'll notice your stock air box is attached to a MAS sensor...this MAS sensor is the exact same as found on a GST/GSX (our engines are made by Mitsubishi and NOT chrysler like normal GS/RS's). Therefore, a turbo intake will fit our cars. You can find them on eBay (do a search for "eclipse turbo intake") for about $30 and they consist of a MAS adapter plate and hi-flow cone filter. You can than also easily modify this to be a cold air intake be either running some pvc off the adapter plate or having an exhaust shop bend some piping that will relocate the filter lower to the ground. Another performance mod that will fit our cars is the GST/GSX underdrive crank pulley.

Where'd you find the header? I've never seen one made for our cars yet. I'm pretty sure there are none.

I work at Autozone so I have pretty good access to the manufacturers of aftermarket products. Currently there is no short ram or cold air intake for the 2.4 spyder. I ordered a short ram for a 2G 2.0 NT and I'm gonna modify it. All you have to do is flip it over cut the second bend out of the pipe, then take it to a muffler shop and have them expand it close to the MAS end to around 3.5", then a 3.5" septic line coupler from any home improvement store will connect the pipe to the MAS. Then I've got an adapter to fit a K&N on the MAS. Its kinda hard to move the filter lower or farther away from the motor for CAI with my setup because my MAS adapter has a 4.5" flange for the filter. That piping would be HUGE! But I'm working on a new one. As for the header. You said it yourself, all 2G exhaust are the same. The 2.4 has the same mounting flange as a 2.0 so the header will bolt directly up. I went with a new header Holley has come out with. It has internal ceramic finish to speed flow characteristics as well as 4-2-1 piping for good HP. It also come ceramic coated on the outside or in a chrome polish finish. The tech advisor also said it work bolt up and work. Haven't gotten any of this yet though so I can't say for sure if it will all work; it should be here tommorrow though and I'll see then. I'm just basically trying to make my own intake and exhaust for my 2.4 spyder. Nobody else seems to offer one. I am currently working with a guy at Akimoto racing to develop an intake for this application. It wouldn't be hard if these companies just took the time.
