How important is mandrel bent exhaust?

Hey guys I'm getting ready to have a custom bent 2.5 inch exhaust with my performance muffler installed on my 98 GS, and initially i was looking for mandrel bent , but as I look aroung no one around here does that, and they all say that It won't make a noticeable difference, plus it's expensive if you can find it. Any thoughts? Does anybody sell a premade exhaust section that's mandrel bent? I think it's just one piece of pipe that goes from the cat to the muffler.

mandrel bent means 2.5'' (or whatever size pipe your going with) all the way through the pipes, even in the bends. If it isnt mandrel bent you loose a small amount of diameter in the bends, they just arent as smooth. The diameter lose is negliable though, not more that .05'' i suspect. And yes, there are quite a few options for 2GNTers as far as premade cat backs...and any aftermarket cat back is going to be mandrel bent. check out the links below, you should find something..

whoever said this before, they get the credit... but take a regular straw and bend it like 90 degrees and drink from it. then try the same with one of those bunched up straws.

also anyone no of some place online that sells just the piping premade? i hate the meineke where i live

The piping from the cat to the muffler is what I was looking for also. I have seen a crush bent and a mandrel bent pipe and I would much rather have the mandrel bent, but no one around here does mandrel bending, plus I didn't know how many or how severe thebends need to be for my car. If anyone knows of a place where I can get just the prebent pipe for my car let me now,

if you can find a shop that has a computerized bender and has exhaust layouts in its memory they could do it

Good luck finding a shop with a computerized bender....
Any decent shop should be able to bend what you want. Ask them to use only a 'large' radius ram. It makes is harder on them, but the bends will be _very_ smooth.
