I've decided on my Exhaust

Then i am going to get a high flow cat. now my question is

it says 4" tip, does that matter because the inlet is 2.5 so it should be ok on my 1.8l, also do i need a whole new downpipe since i am getting a new exhaust and cat or can they just make it fit?

That is only the muffler, which does not count as an exhaust. You would need at least new cat back piping, or if you wanted you could do the cat as well. Like I said though, that is only a muffler.

Also if i got the "MUFFLER" and the high flow cat, then would i jsut need to remove the old cat and then put the nerw on on, and remove the old muffelr and weld this one on? or do i need new piping?

i dont think onepimpeclipse was trying to be an asshole there, he was just trying to make sure you knew that a muffler was only part of an exhaust and didnt count as a catback which seemed to me and might have seemed to him that you didnt know. anyway, i think you could just put the cat and muffler on but you might want to get some custom 2.5" piping anyway

i would highly suggest you should get the 2.5" piping done from the cat back. if you dont then the hi flo cat shouldnt do much for ya

i am only getting the high flow cat to make it sound louder, will it still sound loud with the stock piping?


BTW i am not a newbie, i know what a cat-back is, i know what a turbo back is, i knw a crap load of stuff, i am jsut stating which i DID state correctly that this is going to be "MY EXHAUST SYSTEM" i am getting athat pipe with stock piping and a high flow cat, technically that is an exhaust system, jsut not all of it is aftermarket

But i might get new piping if the cat isn't goin to make it louder unless i get new piping but i dunno?

Any exhaust shop can make your stock piping fit to the inlet of that muffler (it will be welded on).

The muffler by itself will make your car quite loud... the cat isnt really a necessity.

isnt the stock 1.8l piping only 2''..at the biggest 2.25''? very restrictive....you should have a shop to a custom 2.5'' cat back job to take advantage of that muffler and cat, but if all you want is noise...thats what the muffler will give you. if you arent doing the piping then the cat is pretty pointless, it will help with airflow till you get to your 2 or 2.25 in piping but then it will get restricted again and anything the cat just gained..it will loose.

2.5" is kind of worthless on a N/T. It will make the sound a little deeper. 2.25" is rated upto 400 hp. I'm getting 2.5" on my car. But all it does is make it a little deeper sounding. Thats what I want, so thats what I'm getting. The muffler will deffinatly make it louder. Personally I don't like those kinds of mufflers. So I'm getting a flowmaster 60 series. But hey, your car. Oh and, stay away from the mufflers with baffels in them. Mmkay.

I got my exhaust put on yesterday. It is a muffler from ebay and i got a muffler shop to put on 2.5 inch pipng from the cat back. i am at school and the ebay link is blocked but if it is like the ebay one i got it is a deep sound, it doesnt pop, and it is LOUD!!! It is its loudest around 3500 RPM. The muffler shop i went to put it on for $60, but me and my dad know the guy so it might be a little more at a meineke(SP?) or some place like that. Good Luck!

i just sold my evo exhaust a couple weeks ago, bought an apexi dunk exhaust. Im incredibly sick so its not on yet, but ill let you know how it sounds
