hey, i got a new clutch about a year ago and put like 14,500 miles on it. All the sudden about 4 days it the clutch just doesnt grip ne more. Ill be in the 2nd going about 15mph and floor it and the RPMs will just rev it to like 5000 and then the clutch will finally grip and it will drop down to the correct RPMs. Whats up with this. I dont drive my car too hard, i dont think the clutch could be going??? Any suggestions. I just hope my warranty isnt up. Im pissed

well if you only have 14k-15k miles on it, then its not the clutch bein worn out. but there are a # of things that could cause this. it could be as simple as a loose bolt or two, or it might be you had some oil leak on the clutch. like i said there are a few different things that could cause this. if you do alot of the work on your car then i would check it out my self, make sure everything is tightened to spec. other wise take it into a shop and have them look at it but you shouldnt have to buy another clutch. sorry i cant be more helpful.

tear that thing right apart and see what you can see...check your warranty to in case it runs out next week...u don't wanna be to late...but if you know how to drive a 5 speed...then the cluth should be fine...i would agree and say check the bolts and see if you got oil or somethin on it...who put the clutch in?

If it's not oil, then it wasn't cleaned properly before installation, wasn't broken in properly, is being ridden, or is glazed from abuse like 5k rpm feathering.

Do the low gear test, at 45mph in 5th floor the car. If it slips only sometimes I guess it's just residue or oil.

Since you take care of your ride, I think maybe you need a new rear or front main seal :thumb:

alright

i got it installed right when i got my car....when i knew nothing about cars...if i could do it all over again, i would, because honestly, i got ripped off. I went to Purcells (tire store/wanna be mechanics) and they charged me 1100 bux for my clutch (installed). At this time i was a newbie, i new nothing about prices or installations. So anyways its a real shitty clutch, no pressure at all. Cant even feel it coming out (been like this since it was brand new). So now im pissed at them, today or tomorrow me and my friend are gonna rip it out, too bad u have to take like half the car apart tho just to get to the clutch, LOL, and ill see whats up. I really dont think it could have gone yet. Its fricken almost brand new. And about breaking it in, i broke it in for 1100 miles, never shifted hard, shifted around 3500, it was broke in properly. But about that lik 5th gear 45mpg test....i tried it, and it slips all the time, not just sometimes. It wont even grip for the first couple seconds. Ill give it heavy gas at 45mph in 5th gear, and it just revs for a couple seconds, and then like 2-3 seconds later, it will slowly go back down to the normal RPM range it should be at.

I have a conclusion, my car is just way too fast for my clutch, haha :thumb:

Might want to buy a seal and some rtv silicone just in case; specially if it's cheap. You can always take it back.:thumb:
